Honda, a Japanese giant and an eminent name in the Indian auto industry, has finally launched their long waited small car, Honda Jazz! Honda has long been known in the Indian market for their superiority in making high standard executive cars. The great popularity gained by the trio, Honda City, Honda Civic and Honda Accord is sufficient to prove this fact. However Honda had not yet entered the Indian small car market. On 10th June 2009, Honda Jazz was launched with three variants- Jazz basic, Jazz Mode and Jazz Active, and people finally witnessed Honda’s entry into small car business. Highlighting Features: As an obvious, the curiosity for the long waited launch had raised the expectations, and the manufactures too, didn’t disappoint the waiting buyers. The extra ordinary driving experience offered by powerful 1.2L i-VTEC engine alone has proven the fact. Other features such as taller size, foldable seats, spacious interior, ABS, etc. has added to the glory of the car! The major drawback however, is considered to be its high cost. The customers believed that the price is too high in compensation to the offered features and they can go get these features from some other brand at a comparatively lower price. ![]()
Honda Jazz is a hatchback built considering the Indian roads and environment. The expertise in classy cars, Honda, has for sure left the reflection of their expert touch in this small car too! The outer look of the car is superbly shaped and shining, as is the case with all other Honda cars. The hatchback is available in six jazzy colors. Such a great variety to choose from! The overall design is emphasized in making the car more and more spacious! The alloy wheels are however surprisingly missing in the outer look, which can be surely pinpointed considering the high cost of the car. As pointed earlier, the i-VTEC engine in the car adds up to the performance of the car. The advantage of i-VTEC engine is that, the air-fuel intake valves and the exhaust valves are regulated as per the current engine speed. This kind of regulation between the opening of the valve and the engine speed results in superior performances in terms of its power output and fuel consumption The dashboard of this hatchback is comparable to a classy sedan. The identity of the car is its ability to accommodate long, tall and spacey luggage. The supporting features for this are the folding seats and the flat backdoor. ![]() The interior is designed with extreme care, considering the common striving for “space” in hatchbacks, however some other objects are suppressed due to this and few are totally absent! The seats adjustments are manual and there isn’t any means to adjust the driver’s seat height. The AC is without automatic climate control system, which again highlights the question of cost compensation. Honda has maintained its reputation for high security priorities here too! The ABS and EBD, G-CON system, dual SRS bags are the added prominent security features. The G-CON (G-Force Control Technology) is one that assures higher survival likelihood in collision situations. Also the design of the car supports injury preventing to pedestrians in collisions. ![]()
Cons :
Bottom Line: Honda has put their first step in Indian small car business and there is a lot more scope to improve the quality of the car (especially in terms of its cost!). The car is well equipped with powerful engine and spacious interior, however missing simple amenities such as, USB port to the music box, height adjusting lever to the drivers seat, fog light, etc. The conclusion is, it is a good car, with excellent built up and security measures, repays enough compensation to cost. If you want to taste the i-VTEC power in a smaller version, just go for Jazz! |
