According to Mr. Masahiro Takedagawa (President and CEO, HSCI, Head of South Asia), the hybrid cars would be completely built units imported from Japan. Since they would attract 104% import duty, the price of this car would be more than 20 lakh. Firstly, 400 units would be introduced across the Indian market.

We would like Indian customers to experience the hybrid cars first. We are not interested in launching just one model in the small car segment. We are considering several options to launch more small cars.

- He added.

However, the company didn’t want to go into the sub- USD 2500. While Honda introduced a hatchback model “Jazz” in the world market, he added it may be the ‘most possible’ car to go into Indian market in the small car segment at first.

I also read about Civic hybrid in Honda as it took a step to launch hybrids as a flagship model in India, coz most Indians do support eco-friendly movements. This is also the best solution for the raising fuel price. I am sure Civic hybrid will be expensive than the regular Civic
