Honda Accord Vs Volkswagen Passat
Posted on June 21st 2010Welcome back!

This accord is the regular one which has been described in past comparisons. Well the Japanese are heading to attack the mighty power. The Passat is one of the best vehicles to drive but its sort of underpowered when it comes to speed and engine feel.

The Passat feels very spacious and has room for all. You can glide inside the Passat as it has a very spacious cabin. The Accord on the other side is roomy too. German engineering can be seen in the interiors of the Passat. Every function is carved with precision. You can get minute detail from every feature listed in the interior section of the vehicle.
The Accord on the other hand has everything. In comparison with the Passat the Accord doesn’t seem to be perfect. Every feature is available to the driver but its presence and location is not perfect. In short it looks disorganized and scattered when it comes to locating buttons. Lot of leg room is presents in both vehicles.
Handling and feel
The Passat handles like butter, Volkswagen have improved handling of the car. It has reduced air flow and drag. It maintains a certain control when the car is running at high speed. Not to forget a lot of electronics are involved in making the Passat. Stability and turning radius of the Passat are superb. You can corner the Passat as traction control help in maneuvering the car. The Accord on the other hand feels bright and easy to maneuver. It has traction control too which steers the car in the right direction. Certain features of the Accord are worth praising and one of them is the handling at higher speeds.
Engine feel
The Passat feels underpowered in front of the Honda Accord. The Accord has a 178bhp engine compared to the 147bhp of the Passat. The difference can be noted immediately after you step on the accelerator. The need of power can arise when you are in hurry or need the car for long distance traveling. The Passat is highly priced too, apart from looks the car is not that great. It will provide one of the best driving experiences but it lacks speed. The Accord on the other hand is fast as hummingbird. It will flap its wings 100s of times under a second.
Time to go to the ATM
The Accord does not have publicity as the Passat does. But when it comes to speed pop the hood of the Accord and you will find the best engine produced. The Accord is the preferred car in comparison with the Volkswagen Passat.

Greetings from ‘Amazing Thailand’
I remember years ago when Nissan was known as Datsun. Later came Cefiro with a 3 liter V-6 six engine. The ol’ Cefiro is very sought after by young hot petrol heads. ‘The modifiers’.
Then came Nissan Teana. Huh! And it’s been downhill ever since. Why? The name. Teana. What happened to Cefiro? The lackluster design/styling. Mind you, design is important in Thailand. The price. Too high.
How is Teana doing in India. Is there a diesel version available?
Best regards,
Dr John
