HM Launches Mini Truck

Hindustan Motors, country’s one of the oldest auto manufacturers, on Tuesday launched its mini truck in India. The company launched new ‘HM Shifeng Winner’ jointly with China-based auto & agri-equipment company, Shandong Shifeng Co.
By March 2009, we hope to introduce two more variants of the Winner including the CNG model. In the ancillary business (forging, casting and stamping), we have already begun supplying to commercial, utility and tractor manufacturers
-Mr. Ravi Santhanam (Managing Director, HML) told reporters after launch.
Mini trucks will be firstly imported as the knocked down units and will be manufactured locally in the country.
HM will make 1000 units of 1 tonne payload capacity mini truck/month at thier Uttarpara facility in a West Bengal, and intends to rise up capacity according to demand in a future. More than next 6 months, the “Winner” would be rolled out in India, Mr. Santhanam said.
