Hero Honda Karizma ZMR Vs Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSi

The ZMR is above 1 lakh rupees. On the other hand the Pulsar is just for 78,000 rupees. You can have all the features which match your style and looks. The Pulsar is economical for operation than the ZMR. What separates both of them is the name and feel. The Bajaj side is subtle but long lasting. The Honda is aggressive but less comforting. They have their merits and demerits which creates a border in their performance. It also ensures that they have limits for everything created in them.

The ZMR is easy to handle when it comes to straights and long distance traveling. The rider position on the bike is simply superb. In comparison the Pulsar 220 is best. Handling the ZMR is easy, red line gear change will take the bike all the way to 135kmph. The Pulsar on the other hand is fast. It delivers a top whack of 145kmph with ease. You might need perfect shifts to reach 145kmph. It has a tag line which says the fastest Indian is sure to make wonders. The ZMR is not that fast as it is loaded with features which are not required. Both of them have rear disc brakes which make it easy to maneuver in heavy traffic or stop immediately.
Balancing act
The Karizma is not that great but compared to the Pulsar it works perfect. The Pulsar has clip on handle bars which are located at the wrong place. If you are traveling for long distance you might not be comfortable. The rider’s position in the ZMR is superb. It’s not that great but works when used for long distance. The old handle bars are replaced with clips which ensure the rider to be in comfortable position all the time. One more twitch in the riding is the control of bikes in heavy traffic. In such situations the Pulsar works perfect and as desired.
The clutch and feel of the bike is exceptional and delivers comfort. You might not need to pull it and drag the bike all the time. The new engine of the Pulsar is quite refined and created with new specifications. The ZMR engine is also new but not that great when it comes to handling in heavy traffic. Cornering these bikes is superb. You might want to wear those knee guards which are choking with dust at home. The control and feel is simply superb on turns. They are fast in corners.
Mileage
The whole comparison tab is spoiled by intrusion of this section. These are race beauties and so checking for average is not in the list. Well the ZMR delvers an average of 25kmpl and the Pulsar delivers 30 to 35kmpl.
Time to go to the ATM
Well as said cost does play a major role in buying a bike with difference. The comparison is won by the Bajaj Pulsar which is affordable and perfect according to speed and performance. The ride quality is also superb when it comes to handing and cornering.

hi frndz i hve jus buyed the all new bajaj pulsar 220 s which is the fastest indian bike in the history of india i hve reached at the top speed of 148 kmph its vryfast as compared to other bikes.yamaha r15 ,yamaha fazer,karizma zmr or karizma r series have no class againt the bajaj pulsar 220.i suggest every one to buy p220 instead of others

I have karizma and i have raced Pulsar 220cc very easily, you know something in Pulsar you need accelrate a lott and with very difficulty it movess fast when on race where as Kariza it will cross away in an rocket speed when chased. No doubt Pulsar has a good pick up than Karizma but when it comes to race you dont only need the initial pick up but also consistent speed which Karizma has in every gear………..

Hi. I owned a Black ZMR and rode it for 5400 kms before selling it as I had a fall due to the bike skidding in the rain washed roads. The incident happened on Andheri Link Road at a speed of 65 kmph. I bought a P220 a month ago and trust me, its a lot safer than the ZMR. The soft-compound tyres stick to the road like a leech. Braking is great and acceleration is awsum on a P220. My ZMR used to struggle to reach 120 kmph. The max I was able to notch was 122 kmph on my ZMR. The P220 can comfortably maintain 125 kmph all day without any hassles. My verdict - Please go for P220, ZMR is a waste of money.

Reeto,it seems to be a joke tat u got more comfort in 220 than in zmr…i was having a 220 year b4 nd nw iam owning a white Karizma ZMR.How cud people lie that 220 have more braking efficiency?Karizma zmr givs me an avrage of 46 km/l.i hav reachd a top speed of 146 km/hr @ SG highway Ahmedabad.The top speed which I got in 220 was 143 km/hr nd the byk was crying when it reachd this knot.But ZMR is simply the best and the fastest…If u want an economy bike,i suggest 220,or if u r loking 4 a economy,fast,stylish and safe bike then I must say Karizma ZMR,Above All…

I think above comparison is not done perfectly, it seems like editor is favoring pulsar, as he is belonging to bajaj, editor is giving that mileage of zmr is 25-30 kml this clearly shows he donot have experience of getting zmr on long drive, i have zmr and i belong to hp where straight higways are rare, nd my bike min gives 45 local, nd 50-55 on outside city,… zmr are is more powerful as bhp figures of pulsar are at 7500-8000 rpm while of honda are 6500-7000 rpm, so powers are not comparable, well drive zmr and 220 acclrtn, sound, speeds will themselves reveal truth, p220 has advantage of being economic, and lighter, bt engine of zmr is far more refined(oil cooled, pgmfi). P220 is better around corners, as zmr is bit bulky, bt zmr is comfortable as compared to 220,,,,, nd well go out on streets more eyes are on zmr>>>>>

and newly i buyed 220F it is sooo stylish and it reaches 140km n more comfotable than ZMR.
and buy 220f is good thing.

i think p220 has a great pic up than zmr.. It reachs 100kmph in just 7 seconds.. I have been riding long trip so many time..n i feel very comfortable

Hi guys, Karizma was born 2000- 2001( May be may not be , i am not sure).Still now it is a great bike in the India. Lots of reason behind that. It has racing look , good mileage , good suspension , good braking & good engine quality which are very important for a bike. P220 is also good looking , racing look , more Bhp than Karizma but its engine quality is not good . Sudden applying of Disk Brake it may occurs accident . In this subject Karizma is 100000 times better than P220. Karizma have a gentle look , great peersonality & its street presentation ia awesome from any side. But P220 looks good from front side.& Pulsars Vigar is too much weighty it is not cofotable feeling in long tour But P220 has good head lamp otherhand Karizma’s light is not good if you compare it with P220. My karizma returns 40 to 47 in city & 45-52 in highway . Lowest was 39.8 , Highest Was 52.8 . This is a dream for the person who are rides P220. So Pulsarian , sold your pulsars & buy Karizma ( R / ZMR ) . Both are the Master Piece.

Pulsar 220 is the best as compared to ZMR ..pulsar is booked for nearly 3rice the number in which zmr is getting bookes still the efficiency of bajaj they are making a new bike available in 15 days well against the 3 months waiting period of ZMR which really sucks; guys jst imagine if u have a brake down of ur zmr then till the time honda makes its parts available it wil be ages n probably u may be on the verge of ur last days of life..beter efficiency better grip better serice all these is the strength of Bajaj 3 kudos to them ,,, than waiting for 3monhs for a bike..wait for more 6 months u get a real baby rather than a dummy machine:)

it is obviosly true that the auther is favouring 220 as he ios a men in bajaj.he sai cost of zmr is more than 1lc but 2week before i buyed azmr n it cost 99thousand. nd as always bjaj copy hero honda nd it could be easily understood as bjaj launched platina125 by seeing super splendor.nd in case of style n comfort we already know that 7-8yrs ago hh has celebated its 1cr customer.nd i think due ton its engine power people buy it.

ZMR may be sold my Hero Honda. but the Real bike is developed by HONDA and we all know HONDA, if you are a MOTOGP Fan you will know what honda is all about. and as i am a Automobile Engineer, i would go for ZMR because the INDIAN pulsar was not developed in india, if you did not know that

Wait for the CBR250R to hit Indian market. the only worry is its a 1987 CBX250RS redesigned. the 1987 model made 31BHP@9500 and the New on is restricted at 8500RPM making only 26BHP.
the 26BHP limit is basically for UK market, in uk a 250CC bike cannot have more than 26bhp and 11BHP for 125.

Guys…..Go for ZMR…Best in class,riding comfort,powerful engine..Hero merge with Honda and it became HeroHonda..So Honda’s Engine will be perfect Mechanism..Note Pulsar220 Will be Good for 1year after that it sucks…..but everyone Knew abt HH’s engine - Best is class and long lasting compared to Bajaj..I don’t know How ppl say ZMR is Bulky..? Yes, author has shared false knowledge over here. Karizma ZMR is far comfortable and worth deal than P220. K ZMR is the most comfortable even on the highways.
I also agreed with one of the post that initial pick up of p220 is very good but it is not a reliable and confidence filling machine while riding at 100kmh or above.
You know there’s lots of technical probs with Bajaj bikes. sprocket, chain and gear box sounds like hell. I hate the bike which produces so much of other noises with smooth engine sound.
I give Karizma ZMR 4.5 star and P220 2.5 star.
Also, people here must be knowing that Karizma ZMR has fuel injectors and P220 has conventional Carburettor.
Go for Karizma ZMR without getting double minded…Go Above All.

Pulsar 220F is better option than ZMR. ZMR is slow, expensive and give less average as compared to Pulsar 220F. As ZMR has one or two more features but Pulsar 220F has good looking and aggressive body. And also it is in range of middle sportmen persons in society. It is value for money product.

zmr is the best… it has a great dignity, lookz, style, pick up, speed… pulsar is only for stunts.. 220 becames dead in just 2yr. 4m the day u buy… zmr engine is much refiend, powerful n reliable… 220 may beat zmr in highways but in pick up zmr will kick 220 far back.. zmr is best in every field… go 4 zmr guys.. it will suit u in every costume.. zmr r only 4 those who can understand bikes… zmr is really superb, trust me!! @Avinash - Even I am preparing to buy a bike none other than ZMR inshah ALLAH very soon and so I recommend ZMR if you need speed, look and consistency. Price is little higher indeed but it is worth paying with new suitable upgrades. I already have a ZMA R which I am gonna keep along with me as always which is 4 yrs old now and still the same, not an inch is disappointing. The mileage is 35 to 40, no engine sound and top speed close to 130. It is old but it is still young. Long Live !!! HH. Pulsar 220 is a good bike indeed for indian market in cheaper cost and fast too. But mileage is not good and the engine makes lot of noise. When comes to aging, it really ages, no offence!!! My own brother owns a Pulsar 220 and he loves it and so do I, but when it comes to find you the best bike is - “the specs and the experiences of the owners has been shared, it is you to decide”. Both the beasts are the best in their segments. I love them both.

surely bajaj pulsar is efficient in every feature related to speed even the mileage is superb according to the performance .but, there is one thing lacking in it which the karizma zmr has that is the look of an sports bike - pulsar has a great look but it doesnt go up to a sport look like the karizma has . In this feature of looks karizma takes the victory.

bajaj pulasr is better then zmr i have 220 and my friend is having both purchased 3 years back right now he spent 10000-20000 for it and i have spent below 10000 for it and coming to milage mine is giving 41kmpl and zmr is giving 25kmpl
coming to style zmr is too gud comparing to p220
so decide urself before buying

p220 is the FASTEST INDIAN every one can’t handle p220 and i have reach it at top speed of 153 km/ph and i can prove it go to youtube type p220 top speed by ronak and recently my frnd buy a zmr we exchange our bike i put oil of Rs 50 it got the choke. top speed of zmr is 125 kmph go for p220

As u all know the first sports bike is karizma in indian market. and when u compare between bajaj bikes and hero honda bikes u will find hero honda bikes is far better tha bajaj bikes. compare any bike of both companies. and in case of zmr and pulsar at the time of accelration pulsar starts vibrating alot and at the top speed it feels like the engine got blast, while in karizma r or zmr there is no such kind of problem.The life of pulsar is 1 year while cbz,hunk,zma or zmr not less than 5 year.

The true top speed of the ZMR is 129 kmph where as the p220’s true top speed is 133 kmph. Also with the cost of an ZMR we can buy a p220 and use it for atleast 4 years as with the extra 25000 we can replace damaged parts when it gets old. The handling of the ZMR is better than the p220 but to compensate that p220 has got a crash guard. Pulsar’s are known for their innovative nature were as the hero honda’s products remain unchanged for many years with few exceptions. And as far as the technology is conserned, hero honda no more has honda’s technology in a couple of years it will be hero only, where as the bajaj is tying up with kawasaki, ktm etc.

zmr is waste jaffa its mileag is 35-40kmpl and pulsar220 38-45.this is only under normal driving.some maniacs go rashly and get mileage 0f 25-35 only. zmr topspped is max 125 & it is programmed to do that & u can attend 140,150,160kmph evenon it only when road is down slope or center of gravity is in u r favour.but pulsar220 goes easily 140kmph and while going up it can reach 125kmph. fools u have an option of test drive to look what is best.zmr power is less 17.6bhp where as pulsar220 hav 21.4bhp.& compression ratio of p220 is more than zmr.

Listen guyz i can show u the reality of bajaj pulsar 220 or u can say bajaj. pulsar 220 which produces 21.4bhp can touch 150km/h good. But karizma which produces 17bhp can touch 145km/h+. Difference between both the bikes is 4.4 bhp so pulsar is ahead with approx 5km/h with the difference of 4.4 bhp. After 4 years p220 can’t touch 140km/h but in case of karizma after 4 years it will go same 145km/h+
The choice is urs guyz go for smarter bike karizma or go for stupid bike p220.

Pulsar = Panther
Karizma = Racing Horse
the efficiency of panther is that can only runs fastly a few kilometers continuously after that he can’t because he got tired, same with pulsar
But in case of horse can run a lot kilometers continuously with same speed and he can’t tired easily same with karizma
and if u talk about the effectiveness and reliability u can ask anyone among 100 crore people they will say hero honda is far better than bajaj .

The information provided here is totally wrong. My Pulsar 220 goes upto 162 kmph and i can even prove it. I have snaps and videos of that. And how can you say that Pulsar 220 has rear DRUM brake???
And guys, Tapan Khandelwal said that ZMR is best and PULSAR aajkal chamaro k paas v hota hai….listen buddy..u agree or nt pulsar z the best and sells much more than ZMR which proves it. And u must have the guts to dare to ride a PULSAR…aur tera aukad v nahi hai to get a Pulsar to its top speed, u r jst a darpok..and lastly Pulsar is a sports n stunt bike and ZMR….u only bloody know better about that fatty bulky bike!!!!!!!!

I hav booked ZMR & will be delivered on this monday, I have researched very much before making my choice as I love pulsar the day it was launched. Pulsar is truly a performance bike but when it comes to resale value it lags. Also my friend do habe a 220 DTFI fitted with power filter giving an average fuel economy of 45KMPL & top speed of 148KM/Hr, the problem is pulsar durability depends on the way it is used. for Karizma when fitted with power filter get u a top speed of 140Km/hr, but the milage is below 40, I have opted for ZMR for reliability, resale value & above all stability which in my opinion 220 doesn’t have

Dude seems like you are another pulsar owner who thinks that there is no any other bike like it.
Regarding the mileage, the karizma has PGM-Fi which deliviers a fuel economy of 35+.
The p220 cant b handled @ and above 100 kmph because of its bad vibrations. You ride the pulsar for a streach of 20 kms atleast and you will come to know which bike is more comfortable.
The karizma zmr is priced over a lakh, it shows its quality and reliablity. The cost of pulsar shows its standards.

Me 2 agree with himangshu, bajaj bikes are gud for those who changes their bikes for every year, after 1 year p’s are like scrap, lesser resale value, noisy engine, hard gear box, uneasy seating posture. if u wanna racing byk go for rtr180 or r15, or if u want a sports looking bike with cruiser feeling comfort and RESPECT from other bikes (I excluded RE beasts) go for ZMR (white), it has a great legacy.it costs 20 grands more than pulser, but PGMFI engine, Bank angle sensor, All digi Console and sporty full fairing worth it. not like bikini fairing p220.The only thing is gud about p220 is its headlights, 55w projector..
I own a White ZMR, n i feel proud when m on it. Last but not least, “kitna deti hai??” on street 38 and on highway avg 41+.

I hv a p220 as wel as a K zmr….. p220 hs a gr8 initial pickup bt when it goes 2 3rd gear den it’ll b beaten by karizma… aftr 120kmph p220 really sucks whr k zmr is more stable… bt d rear wheel of p220 is wide dan d other, p220 has also awsm light…… ride quality of karizma is 10 times better at brand new bt aftr a yr it goes 2 1000 times… d mileage is almost same..

This review is written well, but in favor of Pulsar. I would suggest the readers to go and check it themselves… both the companies are providing test dive which is advisable before buying any of these bikes.
I own a pulsar 220 and ZMR. I would say that my experience is quite opposite to what the review is. I have been using both of them for over a year…
Handling is awesome in ZMR compared to pulsar. people feel handling ZMR is difficult seeing its huge body, but once you are comfortable with the bike its all urs… compared to ZMR pulsar gives a feeling of the TVS Luna which I used to ride in my childhood.
As suggested in the review, ZMR is th best bike for long drives as I have experienced a 1400 km drive from hyd to goa up and down.
As everyone knows that India is obsessed with mileage, I would say this review is completely wrong in this matter. My ZMR gives 37-40 on highways with average speed of 80kmph, and 32 in the hyderabad’s traffic. Other side my pulsar gives 27-30 on highways with the same avg speed and 22-24 in the city.
I like both he bikes, but would vote for ZMR though I paid extra for its Brand name, comfort, features and looks…
Planning to sell the pulsar and thinking of a Thunderbird… But i would never even think of selling ZMR in any situation of my life.

but we also don’t forget that hero offers less bike engine maintenance.. but on the other hand bajaj bikes’s engine needs more maintenance….. the bike engine parts go reckless if they are not maintained on their top….

All those who say pulsar is comfortable at 140-150 or zmr is comfortable at 140 To 150 all this is crap none of thse or no bike below at least NINJA is comfortable above a max of 115. Or a max of 120-125 for a R15 that too when you drive the shit of out of the piston and those who say bajaj reaches max at 8500 rpm while honda does at 6500 rpm then my friend it’s a drawback of engine which it cannot reach high rpm because of technological limitations they have r15 with 150cc does much beTter than both these bikes and is much faster stable and reliable amd reaches top speed by shooting 11500rpm in a zap thaat no other bike does barring a ninja on Indian soil .

Hi guys! I got p220 from the showroom and went for a long drive which is upto 340km and I went on the speed upto 80to120kmph i just finished the ride and the next day I started my journey and I went upto 100km p220 was troubling to reach just 40kmph how ever i came home and sold it and got Zmr which is the ruler
