Hero Electric to Introduce an E-Car by 2013

Hero Electric Co which makes battery powered scooters is now planning to expand its portfolio by introducing the e-passenger car (electric) and e-three wheeler in country by 2013.

Obviously, the industry will also carry on with its electric-bikes and will introduce more powerful electric 2-wheelers.

We want to be a major player in electric transportation, in which we are investing heavily in carrying out research. In the next five years, we will be launching electric three and four wheelers here.

- Mr. Sohinder Gill (CEO,Hero Electric) said.

The company is presently performing development and research work on trial models of vehicles it plans to introduce over the coming 5-years. They will be investing Rs 80 crore in this fiscal towards R&D and the indigenization of the EV technologies.

Our passenger car will not run on conventional batteries. We are developing it to run on capacitors, which can be charged instantly and which provide greater range.

- Mr. Gill said.

Hero Electric, which is now searching for technology partner for their e-car, will make their electric 3-wheeler and e-car from their existing plant in a Ludhiana.

    Hero’s electric scooters are good and i am sure that the electric cars produced by Hero will also do wonders. I was a bit confused when I read the same because cars and scooters use different technologies. But then, its Hero, it has to be the best.

    I didn’t like the style of hero electric, really very light weight like sunny zip :))
