GM to Source Electric Vehicle Technology from Reva
Posted on September 12th 2009Welcome back!
General Motors India is in advanced discussions with the well-known and one of the leading electric car makers Reva Company, for a Joint Venture and technical collaboration.
GM will get required electric vehicle technology from the Reva Company to made electric version of its Chevrolet Spark in India.
We have been pursuing opportunities for commercial application of alternative fuel options, including bio-diesel, jatropha arrangement with CSMCRI (Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute), electric, fuel cell, hydrogen etc, with many parties for quite some time.
- Mr. P Balendran (Vice President of corporate affairs, GM India’) said.
Both companies will approve a 50:50 JV, which is presently waiting for approval from General Motor’s Detroit headquarter.
In addition, this deal will show how much an Indian public/market means to the Chevrolet brand and contribution of e-vehicles to the growth of GM.

Indeed a great Idea. There are many more Green ideas for
GM both in India and abroad, it seems the company is surely trying hard to regain its lost glory.
