GM to Invest Rs 1,200 cr in Talegaon unit

GM will invest Rs 1000 crore to Rs 1200 crore to set up the powertrain making facility at their Talegaon plant near Pune.
The industry is expected to sign the memorandum of understanding with the government of Maharashtra for the reason within fortnight or so. The powertrain plant will have the capacity to create 2-lakh units/annum.
Besides utilizing the facility for making engines and gearboxes for a Spark model, Talegaon facility will also be utilized for export.
GM already invested approximately Rs 1400 crore in setting up facility to create the Spark model. In September, the forst car will be roll out. The plant has the manufacturing capacity of 1.30 lakh units/annum.
We are definitely planning to bring the power train unit at our upcoming plant in Pune. However, the schedule for the same has not been finalized.

Once our Pune plant gets underway and the production capacity goes up, we will install the power train facility. However, a lot of issues like infrastructure and other aspects need to be dealt with before we finalise any plans.

It is really nice to know about GM’s expansion in India. this says about the growth and the growing demand for their product. I read that GM slashed the price of Chvrolet Spark by Rs.50,000.
