General Motors to set up Engine Plant in Maharashtra

gm-logo.jpgGeneral Motors will sign the agreement with Gov. of Maharashtra to set up engine and transmission plant. GM wants to be top runner in the rising Indian Auto Market as they intend to double their market share to 10 percent by 2010.

According to spokesperson, GM will begin the work at a Talegaon plant, where its 2nd vehicle plant is planned to initiate processes next week.

This will be the extension of investment General Motors has made in the Talegaon for vehicle facility.

General Motors is planned to hold press conference today in a Mumbai, where they will sign MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the government.

    Do they have plans for exports too? when? volumes?

    Indian Government is supporting the car industry and giving a helping hand to help them out in setting up or rolling out new cars in the market. At one point of time many of the car manufacturers had a lot of problems when they were trying to expand but in the recent years they are not at all finding such problems. this is a good response fromt the govt.
