Ford India decides to hike the prices of its popular sedan – Ikon by up to 1.5 percent from April. The company officials told that this price increase is forced by the hike in their import fees caused to a rupee decline.

There will be an increase in the prices of Ikon by up to 1.5 per cent from the price we announced last November while launching a new version of the car. Due to this exchange rate fluctuation our import bills for components have increased and hence we thought it was a logical step to tinker the price upwards a bit to offset the impact.
- Mr. Nigel Wark (Executive Director (Marketing, Sales & Service), Ford India) said.
Ford India had released the new edition of Ikon including a diesel engine from Ford Fiesta. The diesel model is priced at 5.19 lacs while the petrol version available at 4.59 lacs.
