Introduction:

The Fiat Linea Active Diesel is the base variant. As the petrol base variant, Fiat also provides you with a basic diesel version of the model. Nothing else changes except the main change that is petrol to diesel. The car performs on similar lines as that of the petrol and there is less to choose as to which the better of the two is.

Exteriors:

I am always a lot more enthusiastic when I am talking about the exteriors of any car for that matter. But the Linea Active, is something special. It looks so much more vivacious, that most of the cars in this segment, which I am totally fond of this car, just based on mere good looks. The car shows off in style and that too with a lot of elegance. This car is a top notch design, with nice curvy body. Its front look is very admirable. As the tag line goes, admiration guaranteed, Linea definitely can carry it off well. We can get a hint about the car’s design, as to from which location the design has been inspired. And no prizes for guessing, it actually is a European designed model. That makes the difference. The sleek and very streamlined body gives this car a very gentle and appealing look. The car has this great luxury sedan like feel although it come in to the entry level sedan, Talking about its rear, well the car has magnificent pair of circular rear tail lamps, which have LEDs in it.

Interiors:

Interiors are really the main feature in every Linea for that matter, not only the Linea Active diesel. Rather, being a base variant, the active does not give you much, as compared to its top end variants. But it has some basic and most important features nonetheless. The car steering wheel is something that drew my attention. The car makes me feel very good. Steering wheel is wrapped in leather and is a 3 spoke wheel. The nice big logo of Fiat, take me to the olden days, where we had the big fiat logo on the steering wheel with gear lever on the left of the wheel. This car has a nice dual toned dashboard with the instrument panel and the console situated very nicely. The integrated music system, the AC vents, and other controls are nicely packaged in the dashboard. As I go behind, I get a very basic idea as to how much spacing it would be in the rear. And I was quite satisfied with the rear leg room and head room. It will be a comfortable ride for three passengers sitting behind. Adjustable head rests and foldable hand rest are also given.

Performance:

Fiat Line Active diesel has this good track record, thanks to its performance oriented engine. The car has been giving consistent performance reports which are very good. The car has 4 cylinder diesel engine which gives you a maximum of 85 brake horse of power. This value has been slightly decremented from other variants. But still you get a torque of about 209 Nm at around 2000 rpm. This car also has a top speed of around 180 odd kmph which is pretty good. The car manages good amount of acceleration and is not a stereotype diesel engine. The car actually manufactures speed with its 5-speeed manual transmission. The car has efficient handling and good control. The car on high risk turns is a bit on the slower side, but that can be accepted considering it to be a diesel engine. The car is a great spoiling ride and one which you will always enjoy. The car control is amazing and it acts as if you are on cruise control. This makes this diesel engine a real voyager of sorts. Engine configuration and overall engine architecture gives a ‘no-noise effect’ while sitting in the car. The suspension is terrific and the overall quality of the tires, the comfort and the interiors make this one heck of a fast ride. The mileage again is something that this car is worthy of. It offers a neat 14 kmpl in city traffic while it goes up to an astonishing 19 kmpl on highways which is just terrific for a sedan. Fiat definitely scores here big time!

Overview:

Fiat Linea Active diesel has the basic things that you require and is a great option for the petrol variant. It is truly magnificently priced too. At just around 7, 39,000 odd INR (Ex-Showroom Delhi) this car actually rocks the sedan segment. I would certainly go for this and will be an altogether worth 7 lac of a deal. The car gives you all the basic features even though it is a base model. The diesel engine has no issues and provides with a good mileage in city as well. Also the looks which matter a lot in a sedan make this a car very valuable.
