According to reports, the Fiat Grande Punto is also going to get a facelift. The family hatchback will get its first facelift after it was launched back in June 2009. This new version of the Grande Punto will be called the Evo, and reports suggest that this car will come with a completely reworked and renewed bumper styling, and will also flaunt a new grille with an attractive chrome strip in the front.

The new look of the car will have these small tweaks to the headlamp cluster with a touch of a frosted finish and will also boasts of new fog lamps. The alloy wheels will also get a new look, but with that there are no other changes to the car’s side profile. Also, to talk about the backside of the car, the rear bumper will get the same treatment as that of the front and the tail lights will get new detailing.
The interiors of the European Evo have been revamped a great deal and many important changes have been made in the upcoming car as well. The car feels fresher, and more up market than the current model of the Grande Punto. Design including the entire dashboard design, right from the dials to the cluster and gear lever, everything has been refurbished to suit the new trendy looks. The steering wheel is the only thing that remains unchanged, and reports are that it is going to be carried forward from the current model. But having said that, we don’t have it confirmed as to how much of these new interiors will be really a part of the new Indian version of the Fiat EVO, and it would be interesting to see all of that.
Engines in this new venture will be the same, namely the1.2-litre petrol and the 1.3-litre Multijet diesel, that are currently sold. Reports are that the 1.6 litre Multijet engine will not make it to India. Fiat has sold an average of 1,060 Punto units a month, in the financial year of 2010-2011. With all these changes, the company surely hopes to get a boost from the sales in the future, once the Evo is launched in the Indian market.
The Fiat Grande Punto Active has efficient variants in both, petrol and diesel. The car under its hood has an efficient engine, which has high refinement levels, and is also very silent when it comes to the diesel variant. The car comes with this huge 1248 cc, 4 cylinder engine having a power of 76 PS at 4000rpm. The engine makes the difference with its 197 Nm of torque which is really good and it comes with a 1750 rpm. Fiat Grande Punto 1.3L diesel version is a great car which will give you superb looks, great inside features and a very strong diesel engine. The car is a nice option for those who want style and performance. The mileage of the car is also good compared to the higher end models, which carry an engine of around 1300 cc.
The car brings with the name, lot of reliability and durability as well. And your cost per drive too is economical with this engine. The car gives around 12 kmpl in the city, while on highways it provides you with 16 kmpl. The after sales and services is a real problem though.
