Fiat Do a Maruti, CNG Punto to Follow Soon!

We had reported few posts earlier how the country’s largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki had their plans up to chug out CNG variants in all its models shortly.
Close on the heels of the same news, another auto major, Fiat has decided to make its initiative to keep the environment healthier by announcing their decision to roll out CNG compliant in its recently released model, Grande Punto by early 2011.
Earlier too, there were speculations rife in the automobile world about the company’s plans to start in CNG cars categories as well.
The same got base when the company showcased a archetype of the same at the auto expo 2010.
Yes, we are going to launch the CNG versions of the Punto in the first quarter of 2011 in the Indian market more than ever.
We will exclaim the word, ‘Make CNG’, but not before two more models of our super successful Punto gets rolled out.
Mr. Tarun Khanna, head of marketing, Fiat India was stated as saying on different set of plans from the auto house.
Though the official news regarding the technical specifications shall be shelled out later, we provide you a basic idea of the same.
The CNG variant of the Punto is believed to have 1.2 liter engine and poised to be priced between its active and dynamic variants.
Other company sources reveal that initially, the CNG shall be available only in the active segment while later on its dynamic trim will be taken upon, depending upon the demands from the customers in the budding Indian car market.
Every company, just like Fiat, must have a say towards keeping a healthy environment they carry out their businesses in & this is an endeavor to be saluted upon!
