Off late. The Indian small car market has become a hunting ground for most of the pivotal players.

Almost all the major auto companies like Tata, Renault, Nissan, Bajaj, and Toyota are vying to accelerate their business in the same line of business.

Following the same strategy, Toyota India, too has decided to spice up the competition with its anticipated launch of the small car, Etios, set to hit the Indian roads by this year end or early 2011.

Etios will be launched by December or January in Indian market and after it meets its expected target of sale, it will be exported

TKM Managing Director, Mr. Hiroshi Nakawaga was quoted as saying.

He was also seen expressing his intentions to at least clock a sales volume of 70,000 in the very first year.

However, he did not shed lights on the price of the soon-to-be lunched car.

We had focused on vehicles like Innova, Carola and Fortunar and observed that such variants have limited consumer market. So we are moving to small car manufacturing segment

Another executive at the discretion of the company was stated as saying.

To provide you about the market penetration of the company in the Indian car market, it’s just a mere 3% and with the introduction of Etios, it hopes to better its performances.

In a bid to cut the manufacturing costs, the company looks all geared up to start its manufacturing plant at the garden city of India, Bangalore, soon.

Hmm…sounds it’s shaping up well for Toyota, right folks?

However, it would be evident only once these cars hit the market and their performances are measured from the scrutinizing eyes of the end user.

Only then would we come to know as to who is pitted against whom!
