Volvo Bus India, a fully-owned subsidiary of Sweden’s Volvo Bus Co., has declared a launch of 9400 6×2 B9R luxury bus in Indian market. Multi-axle configuration Volvo B9R arrives in 6×2 configuration, with powerful, 9L rear-mounted engine. With the price tag of Rs. 85 lakh, the bus is being made at the Hoskote, Karnataka.

Volvo on Wednesday launched a new model of its luxury SUV XC90 in India. Volvo also decided to bring its latest compact crossover XC60 in Indian market after its reveal in Europe next month.

Volvo has opened its new dealership in Hyderabad in association with the Talwar Cars. The dealership will begin selling Volvo cars by end of 2008. The company already has dealers in Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai and Hyderabad and now plans to add in Bangalore, Cochin and Pune by mid of the 2009.

The company notices a strong demand for their cars in India and may plan to launch manufacturing plant in country by mid of 2010. Volvo already has the sales target for 400 to 500 units for this year and hopes to raise that level in coming few years.

On Tuesday, Luxury car manufacturer Volvo Car India said that it has launched Road Traffic Information (RTI) in their products for hassle free travel to predetermined new destinations.

This navigation system facilitating ride to predetermined areas and through new traffic environments, would be provided on demand at an extra cost of Rs 1.5 lakh.

On Monday, Volvo India and Eicher Motors Ltd signed a joint venture where Volvo will invest around Rs 1082.1 crore. This joint venture will begin its workings in next month (July). The joint venture will also plans for a vehicles financing business apart from their producing operations.

Volvo Car India has said that they are functioning on introducing 6 new models in the Indian market. These new models are: C30, C70, V50, V70, XC60 and XC70.

Volvo Car Corporation has reported that they are going to launch their new XC60 Sports and Utility Vehicle (SUV) next year (2009) in India.

Volvo, Swedish carmaker said it will start assembly operations in the country soon. They are looking for collaboration with Ford motors for starting it. Because currently, in Chennai, Ford’s manufacturing unit did not provide any assembly productions.

Volvo already started assembly operations in China where they working in sharing with Ford and Mazda.
