Yesterday Mr. Joerge Mueller (VW India, President & MD) declared in Delhi that the unique ‘people’s car’ the “Beetle” would soon be seen on the Indian roads. The car will arrive as a CBU (completely built Unit). However another VW car, Polo car will be built from the Pune plant.

Europe’s largest car manufacturer, Volkswagen has sold approximately 10650 passenger cars in the 1st half of 2008 in India. And, they are expecting to close the year with the sale of 20K units.
This implies 69% growth in volume sales in India, which is a very important market for us. Our intent is to have at least a 10 per cent market share in the coming years.
