Volkswagen India unveiled its new high-tech plant at Chakan. The plant is spread over 575 acre area, with the production capacity of 1,10,000 units per year. Chakan plant of VW is one of the biggest in the country and will provide work for 2500 capable workers. The company will be considering Rs. 3800 cr investment in this plant.

Volkswagen AG plans to launch its Polo in the country in 2010. It will be offered in two versions : hatchback & sedan. The hatchback model will launch in the 2010’s first quarter and the sedan model will roll out in next half of 2010. The new Polo will be manufactured at Volkswagen’s Pune plant.

Volkswagen, the German Car Manufacturer, is planning to replace engine in its Passsat. Presently, the Passat includes PD engine which is being replaced with the CRDi engine.

German luxury car manufacturers Audi and Volkswagen announced to cut the prices of products by up to Rs to Rs 2.79 lacs and Rs 80,859 respectively. They made this declaration after the government’s reduction in a CenVAT by 4%.

Small cars like Nano, Lite and Beetle will be creating their charisma in Indian market. Yesterday Mr. Joerge Mueller (VW India, President & MD) declared in Delhi that the unique ‘people’s car’ the “Beetle” would soon be seen on the Indian roads. The car will arrive as a CBU (completely built Unit). However another VW car, Polo car will be built from the Pune plant.
