Small cars like Nano, Lite and Beetle will be creating their charisma in Indian market. Yesterday Mr. Joerge Mueller (VW India, President & MD) declared in Delhi that the unique ‘people’s car’ the “Beetle” would soon be seen on the Indian roads. The car will arrive as a CBU (completely built Unit). However another VW car, Polo car will be built from the Pune plant.

German car manufacturer Volkswagen is planning to bring their iconic car – Beetle in Indian market.

VW, Europe’s biggest car manufacturer, will bring the compact car based on Polo platform in Indian market in 2010. They launched their ‘Jetta’ sedan on Wednesday and now planning the slew of niche and mass market initiates in India.

In the recent survey, Euro NCAP, the safety rating agency has given following NCAP ratings for some of the Indian cars. Other cars did no apply for the ratings:

Europe’s largest car manufacturer, Volkswagen has sold approximately 10650 passenger cars in the 1st half of 2008 in India. And, they are expecting to close the year with the sale of 20K units.

This implies 69% growth in volume sales in India, which is a very important market for us. Our intent is to have at least a 10 per cent market share in the coming years.

VW plans to launch their sedan Jetta in Indian market in August. The VW has big plans for expansion in the country and may introduce their hatchback models as well.

VW UP! shall be presented in India by 2010-11. The car shall be priced at Rs 300,000 and shall declare Volkswagen’s foray into the small car segment in the country.
