Leading car manufacturer Renault launched its latest model Pulse in the hatchback segment aimed at Indian market. This is currently available in two diesel variants, theRxL and RxZ. It is positioned in the hatchback segment and is priced at Rs.5.77 lakhs. Renault Pulse comes with a maximum power of 64PS@4000rpm, Renault K9K diesel 1.5 dCi engine, peak torque of 160Nm@2000rpm and a mileage of 23.08 kms/litre. French car maker, Renault showcased a new small car in India. The car has been named Pulse and the cart maker will sell it from January next year. Pulse is the third car that Renault has launched in India.
The managing director of Renault India, Marc Nassif remarked that “The Pulse carries forward the Renault DNA of safety, quality and innovation and we are sure the customers will like this premium compact which combines all the luxuries of a bigger sedan with the economy of a small compact. Both Renault and Mercedes Benz are in the hope to ride piggy on first Formula 1 race of India, Airtel Indian Grand Prix so that they can do marketing and give a big push to their cars in the country. Ferrari along with the other two car manufacturers lined up prototype launches, virtual games, merchandise sale, racetrack drives for buyers and racing schools amid others for getting grip in the second increasingly growing car market. Benz is planning to connect with the young segment in which it is seen to track BMW in India. The main goal of Renault is to establish to make a great presence in the Indian automobile market.

Ferrari Company does not have a manufacturing presence and hence trying to firm up its plans across Airtel Indian Grand Prix.

Franco- Japanese auto partnership Renault Nissan Alliance India Pvt Ltd recently announced that it has passed the figure of 100,000 for manufacturing petrol engines last month and has already started making 1.5 liter petrol engines for Nissan’s new mid-sized sedan Sunny.

Parth Ghorpade, 17 year old Kolhapur lad, India, recently completed his participation in Round 5 of the Renault F4 Championship at the legendary F1 circuit at Spa, Belgium, an honor which only few racing drivers of his age have.

With a high spirit of acquiring a worthy grid position in the qualifying session of the fifth round, Parth was bit unlucky as his car got hit from the rear during the practice sessions itself following to handling problems. It hampered his chances of making it to top ten on the starting line. He was way back on 18th position in the grid; his car did see some important setup changes at the 1st race eve.
At first it seemed like a promising start for him as he moved steadily from P18 to P15 within 2 laps of race 1 and an excellent double over taking maneuver. But gradually while attempting a pass over the next at the “Les Combes” - chicane on Lap 3, the car which was ahead of his lost control and thus in an attempt to avoid a collision, Parth was hit from behind by Spanish drive Suarez. Within hours of Maruti Suzuki announcing about their plans to launch an upgraded version of their flagship hatchback Swift, Nissan and Renault have started their preparations to give their rival a very tough competition. 
Leaving the Logan fiasco behind, which was produced in a joint venture with Mahindra and Mahindra, Renault has reentered the Indian automobile market with the launch of the luxury sedan Fluence. The company has a target of setting up over 100 dealerships across 75 cities by 2012. The date coincides with the launch of the company’s small car B58, Renault plans to unveil the car in the 2012 Auto Expo.
Although the company has not revealed anything about the car yet, it is speculated that the car will be based on the Nissan V platform, which is the same platform that supports Nissan Almera, Nissan Micra and Nissan Sunny. The buzz is that the car will have the same engine as Micra, a 1.2 litre petrol and a 1.5 litre diesel engine. The car will be designed at the company’s Mumbai design studio, and it is likely to have looks like the Maruti Wagon-R. The French auto giant has refused to comment any further on the design or the technical specifications of the car.
It is evident that the car will be pitted against market leader Maruti Suzuki’s Swift, Toyota’s Etios Liva and Hyundai’s flagship hatchback i10 and i20. The car is expected to offer a similar engine horse power as well as mileage as that of the above mentioned cars, therefore it is a matter of speculation as to what new features will be offered with the Renault B58. With the Logan fiasco behind them, the French auto giant Renault has brought to its Indian customers, one of its excellent C Segment offering, which looks good enough to deliver a sucker-punch to all its existing competitors in the Indian market. Engineered to outclass and designed to trigger envy, the Renault Fluence is poised to set the Indian automobile scene on fire.
Renault Fluence is available in two engine variants, a 1.5L Diesel version capable of producing 240 Nm torque @ 2000 rpm with 106 PS @ 4000 rpm and the more furious 2.0L MPFI (Multi-Point Petrol Injection) version 190 Nm of torque @ 3700 rpm with 137 PS @ 6000 rpm. The diesel version has a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed CVT transmission is provided in the Petrol version.

An ecstatic Sudhir Rao, Deputy Managing Director of Renault India told reporters “Today, we have reached the first big milestone in our India story. It was a promise we made a year ago, not only to the Indian customer, but to ourselves, that we would work hard to ensure we meet the seemingly difficult timelines we had set for our independent entry into the Indian market.” He also vowed commitment for delivering quality to Indian customers, “We understand that the Indian customer is extremely value conscious, hence not only will our products be in tune with customer expectations, but our commitment will be visible through every aspect of a customer’s interface with us … globally benchmarked Product Quality, Service quality, Network quality and our After Sales Service commitment,” he added. Renault has officially made public, its new sedan named Fluence in India. Reports suggest that the car will be available in two variants, a 2.0-litre petrol engine, and secondly a 1.5-litre diesel engine.

The car is said to be priced at Rs 14.40lakh (INR) (ex-showroom Delhi). This pricing is for the fully loaded petrol CVT variant, while you have to empty your pockets by 12.99lakh rupees (INR) (ex-showroom Delhi) for its diesel version. The Renault Fluence is said to have tough competition in the mid sized sedan segment with the likes of the Volkswagen Jetta and the new Laura from the Czech manufacturer Skoda. Continue Reading »
