BMW, the German auto giant has announced that it plans to launch Mini in India next year. Mini is a small car and is expected to be priced more than 25 lakh. BMW India president Andreas Schaaf said, “I am pleased to announce that the Mini will be introduced in India in 2012. Currently, the BMW team is evaluating which version to be launched in India from the entire Mini family.”
The auto major plans to set up new showrooms exclusively for the brand, across the nation and also plans to have not more than 12 dealerships. Schaaf remarked that “As a first step, we will have two dealerships in Delhi and one in Mumbai. In total, we will have 12 dealerships across the country in the coming years. As per plans, in 2013 we will add 3-4 dealers followed by 3 more dealerships in 2014.” Continue Reading »

Andreas Schaaf, the President of BMW in India seemed to be in an upbeat mood when he announced that Mini Cooper is expected to be launched in the Indian Market in early 2012. Harald Kruger, a member of the board of the BMW group said at the 64th IAA Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 that, “We are introducing the Mini in India to build our brand image”. They are very confident that this car would hit the Indian market very soon.

Mini Cooper was launched in 1959 by and then owned by British Leyland Motor Corporation. It was later bought by Rover Group, then by British Aerospace and finally by BMW AG. When it was launched, it was deemed as a British Icon in the 1960s. Continue Reading »
Looking to hit back at its competitor BMW that has collapsed it from the topmost position in the Indian luxury sector from Mercedes Benz, a leading German auto major have planned to introduced more than ten brands in coming 3 years for getting back the numero uno position by the year 2015. Mercedes Benz is taking efforts to regain topmost position in India. On the other hand, BMW said that it is not ready to give in the position just now and would take the leadership by making it to a new level of customer satisfaction and brand positioning. It has also been added that the new products launched by the company will even include small cars of the company.

On its losing numero uno position in the luxury car market in India to compatriot BMW, Mitra said: “We are the market leader in all the segments we are present, except the E-class… The actual game of numbers will start when all luxury manufacturers will have their all products here.”

Mitra also said that, when the company has its complete range of products in coming 3 years, Benz is going to get its number one position. Mercedes Benz lost its leadership and number one position to BMW in the year 2009. Almost 3,247 units had been sold by Mercedes Benz as against 3,619 units of BMW. In an event organized in the wonderful city of Pune, BMW Ina launched BMW X3. This event took place at the new Bavaria Motors dealership. By considering the engine size of BMW X3, BMW X3 was launched in 2Variants such as BMW X3 xDrive 30d and BMW X3 xDrive 20 d.

This newly launched car costs around 41, 20,000 and has two diesel engines and dropped petrol engine from X3 line-up. Audi is the rival who will be competing with BMW in this segment. Audi Q5 is leading in this segment. A few days back, the cost of the Audi Q5 has been reduced by almost 5 lakhs. Such reduction in the cost of Audi Q5 made things difficult for BMW.

Released, a week ago, the free application allows its users to share, discover and rate the world’s most interesting driving routes contributed by the users worldwide. By incorporating GPS, this app will also be able to find routes regarding a particular location, and will alert the users when new routes will be discovered.

Pawan Murthy of BMW Group Financial Services said, “There are plenty of sites that will show you the top roads to drive. The roads that are filtering up (in the app) include others that very few people have ever heard of, and that’s what makes it so exciting.”
Till date, more than 600 routes had been added to the application. Murthy said, “The most interesting routes are those with the best scenery and, for drivers with sporty cars, include many twists and turns. Points of interest and restaurants or cafes with good food, also get a lot of mentions. One user, who added a route just west of Denver that runs along North America’s highest elevated public road warned drivers to ‘watch for bighorn sheep’.”
There is another route that takes drivers along a trip that ends at Arkansas oldest operational general stores. He added, “It starts getting very granular from a user-experience standpoint as to what people will share on the app.” Continue Reading »
