Skoda Auto India got almost 20 percent hike in the sales for the August month this year as compared to the last year and the same month. Skoda Auto reported sales of 1,512 sales last year in the month of August that has increased to almost 1,812 units every year.

One of the board members from sales and marketing proudly mentioned, “We are extremely positive about Skoda Auto’s growth trajectory in India. Our Endeavour is to consistently provide consumers with value products and services are one of the key factors contributing to our growth”. Looking to hit back at its competitor BMW that has collapsed it from the topmost position in the Indian luxury sector from Mercedes Benz, a leading German auto major have planned to introduced more than ten brands in coming 3 years for getting back the numero uno position by the year 2015. Mercedes Benz is taking efforts to regain topmost position in India. On the other hand, BMW said that it is not ready to give in the position just now and would take the leadership by making it to a new level of customer satisfaction and brand positioning. It has also been added that the new products launched by the company will even include small cars of the company.

On its losing numero uno position in the luxury car market in India to compatriot BMW, Mitra said: “We are the market leader in all the segments we are present, except the E-class… The actual game of numbers will start when all luxury manufacturers will have their all products here.”

Mitra also said that, when the company has its complete range of products in coming 3 years, Benz is going to get its number one position. Mercedes Benz lost its leadership and number one position to BMW in the year 2009. Almost 3,247 units had been sold by Mercedes Benz as against 3,619 units of BMW. In India, the month of August was a mixed month for auto makers due to boosted sales and others sold few cars as compared to previous year. India’s two largest auto makers such as Tata Motors Ltd and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd sold only some cars in the month of August because key car models were produced in fewer amounts and a slowdown in the market.

Announcement has been made by Peugeot, French car maker that it is going invest the amount of 4,000 crore for establishing the auto manufacturing plant in Sanand. It will be established next to India’s future car unit Tata Nano factory and Ford. For Peugeot, the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation has also set sideways almost 584 acres of land in Sanand. More 25 acres has been set aside for ancillary industries for supporting the unit. The facility will surely offer both direct and indirect employment to people. Direct employment will be provided to almost 5,000 people. Indirect employment will be provided to 25,000 people.

The manufacturing will begin operating in the year 2016 for manufacturing 1.65 lakh vehicles at first and the company is expecting to export 25% of its vehicles. Furthermore, gearbox and engine developed with latest power training technologies will surely help represent a completely fledged modern industrial automotive facility. India’s biggest automaker is all set for a major project to take on of launching 15-20 new vehicles in five years. To remain competitive in the market, the automaker will continue to focus more on low-cost vehicles with 70-80% of its upcoming offerings are possibly to be in small car segments.
