General Motors India will increase its car prices by 1% to 2% fron January 2009 to cover increasing prices. However, according Sr. officials, the market conditions may not improve in a 1st half of 2009.

Mr. Balendran (VP, GM India) said that the price hikes were to cover the input costs and an impact of weakening of rupee last year.

Maruti Suzuki has announced that it would reveal fuel efficiency of its models at dealerships across the country with an immediate effect. Previously, the Society of Indian Auto Manufacturers in a month of September had declared a voluntary labeling programme for each member company to make a revelation of fuel efficiency of their all vehicles by the March-end.

Maruti, the leading car manufacturer, recorded 10% fall (56,293 units), as compared to December 2007 (62, 515 units). However, compared to November 2008, it was 9 percent. Maruti sold 47,704 units in a domestic market in November’08.

After Hyundai i20 launch in December 2008, the company is welcoming the 2009 with the launch of its new Verna Facelift. To compete with the most popular D segment models and to satisfy the customer, the new facelifted Verna will be offered with few changes in interior styling & in exterior also.

Tata Motors souces said that the company would start Nano booking from March/April 2009.
According to sources, Tata Motors has sent 3 models of Nano from its Pantnagar facility to Dehra Dun, Almora and Ranikhet for test runs.

Hyundai Motor India is planning to hike the prices of its cars by up to 2 percent in Jan’09.

Raw material prices, labour costs and other input costs have increased. We are looking to increase the prices by less than two per cent in January.

Hero Honda has introduced new variants of 3-models : Glamour, Glamour FI & CD deluxe. The CD Deluxe edition is also offered with self start or electric start option. These variants are priced in the range of Rs 45800 and Rs 55450 at ex-showroom, Delhi. Glamour variants are priced in the range of Rs. 45800 and Rs. 47700 and the Glamour F1 will be offered in the range of Rs 51450 and Rs 55450.

Hyundai had launched the most awaited hatchback model – i20. The Hyundai i20 is available in 3 variants - i20 Asta, i20 Magna and i20 Asta (O).

Hyundai Motors is planning to introduce its new Hyundai i20 on December 28. The slow market conditions are not holding back it to launch its new model.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Wednesday has launched it’s a one hour periodic maintenance service - Express Maintenance for all its vehicles. The new scheme is available to each Toyota customer existing and new one at no extra cost.
