Car Sales Down 6.9 pc , Bikes 22.9 pc

In December’08, the domestic passenger car sales dropped by 6.9%. It is declined from 88,272 units (in Dec 2007) to 82,105 units (in Dec 2008).
Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) released the sales figures, and according to them, bike sales in India, in December 2008, had fallen by 22.9% at 3,35,820 units compared to 4,35,925 units in same month previous year.
Total two-wheeler sales in Dec 2008 is also dropped by a 15.4% at 4,61,302 units against 5,45,485 units in same period in 2007.
However, the commercial vehicle sales in December is up by 58.2% to 17,920 units, from 42,961 units in same month year ago.

Car sales for Dec 2008 slashing is not a shocking news.This was expected because of the global meltdown.Hope in 2009 the car sales see some good numbers fro the manufacturer to cheer.
