Bajaj Pulsar 150cc Vs Yamaha Fazer
The touring spirit is one of the contenders for the Pulsar 150cc. Fazer is one of the best bikes in the 150cc segment. It only has one drawback which is very striking. It’s the price tag on the 150cc touring bike. If you can afford the price tag the bike looks superb, handles well and has top tuned engine. The design of Fazer is being taken from it original look. This has attracted lot of sports bike lovers. The rear big tire is wide enough to run over potholes completely. It has mono suspension system which ensures you have best rides all the time.

It is a touring master as it is developed with all those features which are required for long rides. On the other hand the Pulsar 150cc is known to all. Soon the bike has a competitor which has looks and features like the Pulsar.

Speed, speed and more speed
The Japanese are unbeatable when it comes to speed. Quick acceleration and smooth engine supports the engine when power shifting. Red line gear change ensures both the bikes to travel at high speeds. The Fazer touches 115kmph with ease, at times if a proper straight road is given it will touch 120kmph with ease. On the other hand the Pulsar struggles to reach 110kmph. Well, that’s the top speed for the Pune based company product. Cornering on the Fazer is very easy since it has one of the widest tires in the entire segment of Indian motorcycles. On the other hand you might find it rough to lean the bike into a corner.

Balancing act
The Fazer is a touring bike; of course it is dam comfortable. The setup of engine and riders position on the bike is simply superb and one of the best in its class. It has speed, looks and comfort. Fazer is a one stop bike for everything you need in this world. For long rides it has the best riding posture.

Mileage
The touring master delivers mileage of 40kmpl without a problem. The Pulsar needs to be better on the economy as the bike delivers 50 to 55kmpl. The engine setup of the Fazer is new and has advanced products installed in the Japanese design. Yamaha are world leaders in creating fastest bikes in the world. Pinning the throttle on straights does not affect the average section for the Fazer. On the other side the performance and average are affected for the Pulsar.

Time to go to the ATM

In a comparision like this the best option is the Yamaha Fazer. It has looks and best handling too. The design of the bike is done according to new specifications. Apart from cost everything on the Fazer is perfect.

Pulsar is the model which gave life to 150CC segment..The review is completely onesided…Don’t understand how the site administrators allows these onesided reviews..After all Pulsar is the most succesful bike in 150CC segment..People are not fools to buy this one whn better option is available..Fazer might be a good one at speed…but definetly Pulsar has it mastry features at maintanence and engine life..

    Hi Forum!!

I really disappointed of your false specs given for pulsar
150cc, i can say b’cos my cousin has fazer but he has vibration problem at 110kmpl speed, then the mileage is only in range of 30~37kmpl, i understand that yamaha is worldclass bike mfrs but lacks in something

Give a cheerup to pulsar rockers!!!!!!!

    Thanks

Hi Friends this site is not totaly wrong i am one sport bike lover and as per this site they are mostly right if you are willing to pay 85000 for fazer then its dam good and wish way to purchase fazer
i have pulsar 220 cc, fazer 150, and Kawashaki Ninja both where as far as your mileage concern its all depend on your riding ability
ride your any bike on 40 - 45 and do less use of cluth and on highway use speet up to 55 - 65 if you want to get mileage of fezer near by 50/kpl
as fazer owner i am much satisfied with fazer as camparision of pulsar is totaly assmbling product by bajaj
where with fazer we will get brand name or yamaha which itself a father of biking so if any one want to take fazer just care about your riding experience if you are not not good rider fazer will not suitable for you, that bike is need care to give better performance.
else there is no vibration problem in fazer and its easy rich up to 120 on nice surface road and its to fine to ride in dumpy road too with its bike redial tyre which pulsar not providing in 220 cc also.

I love my all sport bikes

  10. Nishendu Mehta responded on 12 Oct 2010 at 1:56 am #

fazer never every start to giving a mileage of 60/KPL forget about it
bcoz this bike is made for whom who willing to care of biking and sport loving person, yamaha bike manufacturing never think about mileage because as per my best experience in sport biking riding a wish of more mileage is prove to be more costly in some time so if you bike is giving mileage on india road @ 45 to 50 Kpl its fine and if you bike having liquid cool engine type an avg its near by 20 to 25 its dam good dont expect more mileage from your bike and dont try to do so
so you may purchase any bike just take good care of your bike its surely give performance what you want.

and about the milage,, if i do 55 on the highway’s without hard throttl my bike gives 75,, and m not joking at all!!! if u al want proof then take a pulsar 150 and do wat i did!!! m sure ul will be shocked!!!

  13. anirudh responded on 23 Oct 2010 at 11:59 am #

fazor is little good in performance than pulsar but lags behind greatly in mileage. The mileageof pulsar150 is about 55-60 on highways while that of fazar is 40-45. When it comes to looks both have got differnt styling and looks pretty well. When comes to technology fazor is more advanced but pulsar has also got dtsi which provides good throtle response and better fuel combustion. So if u dont take brand name into consideration blindly go 4 pulsar but fazor has got d yahama,s tag name but ur pulsar will only rock if u take poper care of the phenom

    The problems are as follows
    1) Engine noise
    2) Carborator Block(Often)
    3) Ratling noise
    4) Engine over heat, its a major problem i am facing.

    Guys,

I request all of you who ever planned to go for a pulsar. Please do think about the showroom where you buy and the model and the product value.please don’t go and buy it blindly

    Hi Guys,

I am not that good at technical aspects when it comes to bikes. I own both the pulsar 150 and the Fazer 150. My pulsar 150 was registered on Jan of 2008 and my Fazer was registered on May of 2010. I have done 62,000 odd kms on my pulsar and my fazer has done almost 16,000kms on my fazer. My office falls 45kms from home and i do almost 100kms every weekday, which i feel that makes me eliible to give a review on both these bikes.

    Mileage:

I am a rider who doesn’t like people riding pass me with ease. My pulsar gives a mileage of 50kmpl with my average speed being 60kmph. Where as my fazer gives a mileage of 37kmphl with my average speed being 75kmph.

But when a guy is going for a 150CC segment bike, it doesn’t make any sense of locking your self with mileage. If mileage is a only concern then i would suggest people to stick with a 100CC bike. But, yes, if you are dependent on someone and wanna save some money for the weekend treat, then you can say that the pulsar stands ahead from the fazer. the pulsar gives you the feel of riding a 150CC bike and also saving some money.

    Looks:

I have to say that the pulsar was the best of the breed at the time of launch with killing looks. and the second and third generations of pulsar added honey on sugar. But as i says “Expectation never stops”. I would say that the generation today demands more. Please don’t do a mistake by comparing the pulsar with the mighty fazer with looks. Though people who own a pulsar might argue stating that the pulsar is still good with looks, fazer owners please don’t mistake them, because no one will accept that their bike doesn’t look good. It’s a fact, whether you believe it or not that Fazer kills the pulsar in looks.

    Ride Comfort:

“You get only for what you PAY”. Monoshock is much more superior than GRS and 160/70 rear tyre gives you additional Drive comfort over potholes. Rider comfort and handling are much better on the Fazer than the pulsar.

    Maintenance:

Both the bikes stand on the same place when it comes to maintenance. If you want your bike to perform good then it deserves to be maintained good. Service the bike every 3000kms. Believe me, you will get the best from you bike.

    Conclusion:

150CC is not the primary criteria which makes us to compare bikes. Please do compare bikes based on their price tag, that will make more sense. It is as if comparing a Skoda with an SX4.

People please appologise me if this review hurts your feelings in any way.

Well, well, well..Folks this forum is flooded with comments on the 2 bikes. Let me add lill more to that..To start with, let me tell you guys that i have a pulsar 150 and a Fazer Limited Edition in my garage. Fazer came in sep 2009 but Pulsar is with me since 2007. Now lets speak abt the Pulsar. Pulsar is a decent bike, has good n sturdy looks. The best thing is the mileage..Best in class i should say..Performance is also decent..But i see that the bajaj engines are not long lasting..pulsars start wearing up with the passage of time n years..even if you maintain it as per the standards, the engine gives up..M pulsar is now ailing and needs lots of maintainance..I serviced the bike on time but still its not up to the mark…..And you know what guys? I cant even dare to compare Pulsar with the mighty Fazer, and i guess no body should dare..Fazer outperfroms pulsar is all aspects except the mileage factor but as per Nishendu said yamaha bike manufacturing never think about mileage, they know only one language and that is perfromance and power. I get great feeling to ride my Fazer than the pulsar..Everything is much superior..The riding comfort, handling, stability, acceleration etc..Its got a very nice throtty engine..Pickup is just excellent. It easily glides to 100Kmph….And on high speeds it runs very smooth without any vibration or noise in the engine..As if the engine is put on silent mode! I love this, the engine is highly sophisticated and made to deliver, not to crank like the pulsar..The Japanese tech bike is a delight to see!! Its got aggressive, stylish and eye catching looks!! I get so happy to see chicks staring n leering at my bike!! Pulsar is now outdated..Chicks are now bored with Pulsar..Fazer has that appeal to attract babes..Not only chicks, even the young, old, middleaged ones loves the looks of the fazer as its the scaled down version of the global sports bike Yamaha Fazer 1000cc…So all pulsar owners, dont feel inferior for owning pulsar, but accept the fact that Fazer outsmarts Pulsar in terms of technology, sophistication, performance, comfort and style…Anyone not accepting the fact is uninformed, biased and immature…Or they may be having sentimental liking towards pulsar..I can understand that but the fact is open to the entire world and Fazer is bike that the world knows about it..And pulsar is confined to one country…so again with all due respect to the pulsar, Fazer rocks and stands tall in comaprison to Pulsar!!!!

And pulser is bigger than frazer , dont believe? look at the specifications in the net - length & hight…

Hi.guys am a proud owner of fazer midnigh special.i will give you the correct advantages and disadvantages.
    Advantages
    * fazer kick back any other indian bikes in handling.it will stop suddely without sliding the rear tire in any top speed like 115 to 121 km/h.
*pulsar 150 and 180 definitly fail in straight road racing .
*u can ride a full day long ride like driving a car.
    *bumpy roads wont hurt us
    *pulsar=maruti alto lx
    fazer=maruti swift vxi
    *fazer technology =yamaha japan
    Pulsar=baja india.
    *girls attraction
    Fazer -will 100%
Pulsar -13% cos even fish sales in this bike.
    Diadvantages
    Mileage.:fazer at above 80 km/h gives 35 km/l but at 45 to 50 defntly give 45 to 48 km/l
Tyre wear and tear.: unless you checkd your tyre pressure 2 times a weak your tyre will fastly wearout like ice melts
¤avoid pot holes if not your alloys wil bend.
*do not add heavy extra lights or air horns .if done u will suffer
*fazer can caught mud and dust more than any other bike when riding in rainy or dusty cndtns
*1 fall will cost u an amazing amount of 2000 to 8000 to repair.so dnt fall.

@ all: one fact i don’t like in pulsar is, how many variations will they release in PULSARs every year… You buy a pulsar this month, an upgraded one appears next month. when another guy rides on the new bike, how would you feel?? like shit on face. Thats one of the reasons i hate BAJAJ and TVS craps. This never happens with any Japanese bikes.

Now i own a Fazer. Even though it lags in mileage, its the best bike that suits my physic.

Final suggestion, if you are 6 ft tall and weigh above 80 Kgs, Fazer is the best one. Other bikes are tiny. If you are less than 6ft tall you can buy all other bikes

i owned a yamaha fazer in october last week nw ‘m using it mainly rural areas :- them also ‘m getting a mileage of 46 -47 kmpl , After the first service . As a sports touring ‘m getting very much satisfaction :- and every features of my fazer is greet :-i ‘ve to tell a lot of good qualities if any body want detail i ‘ll tell dat all :- all proper riders of fazer are already expirianced with it .:-) i think atleast we take pulsor 220 to compare with Fazer 153 :-

hello frnZ i want to ask one thing
    1new p 150 15 bhp power
    2.13.9 nm torque
    pulsar is more powerful
then how can u say fazer is good in performance
rahi bat price ki toh fazer bhi itni costly nahi hai 2-3 k hi zyada hai p 150
    good luking pulsar hi hai
    features pulsar mein hain
yamaha 1000 cc + mein class company hai
but 150 cc mein bajaj hi ultimate hai
yamaha ki bike ka price bike ko suit nahi krta overrated look s mein bhi sabse bekar hate these bikes if yamaha
    likes 1000+ yamaha bikes

    Guys
check the specifications and handlings .. any mechanical engineer goes for PULSER in terms of comparing even excluding price tag..
and if u wanna impress girls that much via BIKE then go for PULSER-220 ….
It can damn beat any other on 150 cc range ,,,
because smooth street race dosen’t give that much of adrenaline .. you need torque, better pickup and handling and PULSER’s options are much more versatile ..
OF course fazer looks better and after few years PULSER will get wiery comparitively.. but in that first few year I did the stunts and rocked it on the roads filled with cars and other bikes..
I would suggest first ride both the bikes on busy street and go for whatever makes you happy..
    see ya

there is another lady who I see rinidg along throsby creek every morning on her way to work at that Joy Cummings center near cafe 2300. I wouldn’t call her elderly . Past half way, might be a softer description. Anyway, she is a stalwart. And very cute, as all women on bikes are to my eye. If you see her, do ask her to stop for a photo. I would, but I am too shy.

fazer is one of the most comfortable bike for riding and handling too…
but pulsar lags in comfortness, you will get tired even for short distance…though it gives good mielage.if your not seeing mielage then buy a fazer,it will be the right choice for u!!!!

Well ppl….its been 6 months since i bought fazer midnight black…n ppl who think that the mileage is bad…its 44 to 49 kmpl…i ride it on highways and city both n reached 124 kmph of speed…and trust me its a quality product…u ll enjoy each ride on t….extremely good looking and masculine…it sure shot raises ur standards with eye balls rolling at u when u ride it…girls love its looks trust me i have many ;)
and coming to pulsar…i dont think its right for pulsar to be compared to this beast…pulsar is 10k cheaper …very common on the roads..uncles bhaiyas n even small town below poverty line vendors has it…its good in one aspect..mileage…but the riding comort is so damn poor…n guys who r supporting pulsar here pls dont lie abt the gear box…its gear box is very clumsy n low quality….when it rains or even damp…the electric start refuses to work and the handling is quite tight….guys i have had both the bikes…trust me go for the Yamaha international engine and style…m 100% sure u wont regret it..! :)

I own a fazer 2010 model. And i use it very roughly. I do stunts like burnouts etc, quick pick ups, triple carrying, rough road riding, i rarely check my tyre pressure, i directly rev my bike while doing cold start. I hardly service my bike. You can now imagine the torture my bike is facing. Even then it returns me 45-50 kmpl. My room mate has got a new FZ-S, he rides very carefully and service it regularly. He gets a good milage of 55-60 kmpl. Sounds impossible right. We checked it several times. We check it by using reserve to reserve technique. But its more or less same. Means, fazer is not that bad in terms me milage. And about handling and other stuffs, its awesome. Guys, go for it.

i have baby called pulsar, like u say pulsar is not as good as fazer but its good in its class, pulsar is best for a pune based company which operates mainly in india,we shouldnt compare it with a international companies bike.
pulsar is best for indians we dont have good roads here,we are not so rich so mileage matters for us,according to me pulsar is a best bike for indians

  82. Ravil responded on 15 May 2012 at 3:20 pm #

fazer is a good bike, technically advanced but it is not a good mix of power and efficiency,
and this chap @utkarsh, i don’t know whats wrong with him…he is offended that bajaj is still kicking ass, he explodes as if there is gunpowder beneath his rear dark side. dude chill out…u can disrespect people who own a bike.
i myself have both of them, but still use pulsar on highways and it gives 55+kmpl @ 60km/h. fazer is a beauty but still pulsar solves much of the issue..

  83. Ravil responded on 15 May 2012 at 4:24 pm #

    pulsar can reach upto 139km/h
kindly have a look, way beyond FZ..
