Bajaj Do A Honda, Hikes Prices!
Posted on June 21st 2010Welcome back!
First, it was car manufacturers who increased their prices and justified the same as transfer of input costs to customers. Next to follow is one of the bikes major, Bajaj Auto, who have decided to follow their car counterparts as far as the pricing are concerned. The hiking up of prices means all bikes of Bajaj would be dearer by 800-1000 INR.
A similar move was taken by the arch-rival Hero Honda almost a month back owing to rise in the price of the inputs.Bajaj Auto has also cited the same reason of an increase in inputs.
We have increased prices across all the models including Platina. The increase varies from Rs 800 to Rs 1,000. On selected bikes, the hike is Rs 1,000. The revision in price is the result of increasing material price,
Mr. S. Sridhar was quoted as saying on the confirmation of the news.
We have also sent the letters to the dealers on the price hike almost a week ago
Another executive was also of the opinion when asked about the latest development on the stipulated trudge.
The news is sure to be a shock for a perspective buyer, but, defending the move the Pune-based firm exclaimed that it indents to improve its operating margin which has been under continuous pressure bowing out to ever rising competition and rising costs of inputs and commodities.
Okay, Bajaj, point noted, and here is piece of advice for all new Bajaj buyers to go for a new bike now, as there may be a further increase in coming days.
