Bajaj Avenger 200 Vs Bullet Thunderbird Twin Spark
Posted on May 5th 2010If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

It’s low and looks superb in any paint given. The Avenger is famous for its low styling and a powerful engine which passes the Thunderbird in a blink of eye. They have similar outputs when it comes to speed and economy. One of the reasons for the comparison with these two monsters is because of performance. I am delighted to say the lunacy’s back.

Balancing act
Since both the bikes are in cruiser section they offer superb comfort. The Avenger is superb when it comes to long ride. Low seating style works perfect when it comes to long tours. The bike is designed for long tours in any terrain. Ride the thunderbird and you have a serious look. On the other hand ride the Avenger and you will be grinning to glory. The Thunderbird is also comfortable but too heavy which makes it boring to ride. If you are a fan of the thumping then the Thunderbird makes sense.
Mileage
Well who buys these bikes for economy, to hell with the average. These bikes are meant for rides which are memorable and one of a kind. The Avenger delivers an output of 35 to 40kmpl. On the other hand the Thunderbird delivers and average of 20 to 25kmpl. Riding them in red line gear change will reduce the economy by 5 to 10kmpl.
Time to go to the ATM
Well if you are a fan of the thumping and dreamt about the cruiser which takes over all others then go for the Thunderbird. The Avenger is quite and stealth which crushes all thumping dreams. If you need power then the Avenger is the best option. According to performance, economy and maintenance the Avenger is best against the Thunderbird. The main purpose of Thunderbird is noise and feel which are not delivered by the Avenger. At times you might feel like the king of road when riding the Avenger with your family. For long tours with your loved ones the Avenger is the best bike.

what a worst comparison ,if u are comparing bajaj avenger vs bullet Thunderbird then u are comparing like tiger with lion. Thunderbird is like lion if u are saying avenger is more powerful speedy and performance is good it will be but not compare to Thunderbird.all mechanist rec omened Thunderbird. ya look wise avenger is little good but in other area it lacks.simple example which engine give more power 178 cc or 350 cc think rest all in u r hand u are are smart….:)

A very bad review. I Own a 2006 Avenger, and to say just like all other Bajaj vehicles, it sucks.
For a year or two you would love its “Power” as the above writeup claims, but 2-3 years, the machine shows its true color. look at any 3 year old pulsar, the vehicle sounds like junk. all parts tend to come loose and more maintenance unless you wish to use it the way it is. Same engine is put in the avenger. Ofcourse if you handle carefully any bike can last long, but cruisers mean something, tough people full of crank, looking for fun,
Never buy Bajaj , they have improved a lot from those chetak days but still not at par. Avenger service is done only in few places in bangalore, mileage has reduced a lot since its early days. and the bike now seems unstable.
I do not own an enfield, but by experience, its the best bike you would get. The service costs may be bit higher but you will get good VFM. Enfields are built like a tank, and they last long.

Hi Jinesh,
)modern cars with 1200-1500 cc engines produce much more power than tractors that have a 4-5 liter (i.e. 4000-5000 cc) engine. However, those tractors deliver a monstrous torque which will trash the cars. Similarly, Avenger 220 delivers a max torque of 17.5 Nm while this is a devilish 28 Nm for Enfield and that flattens out all the roads for the enfield. However 17.5 is not a bad number at all. This “might” (not “will”) really matter if you wanna take ur bike for a spin to the himalayas.
I’d suggest avenger 220 if you will be riding IN the city’s jams more and will go for a long ride say once in a month (which I feel is very likely like any other IT dude).
Hi Nitin,
I do accept your POV. But I’d like to add something here. This comparison is pretty sensible and would have been more sensible if it had been a comparison between Avenger 220 (18.8 BHP) Vs Thunderbird (19.5 BHP). Then about your opinion on “175cc vs 350cc” which one will give more power, our (indian
Hi Ajit.V.Gupta,
I am not being blindly brand loyal here. I have owned a Pulsar 150 (2005, all down gears, not the yamaha type 1 down 4 up system) and I have been pretty satisfied with it. I have done 500km + in one day with her quite a few times and I am yet to have a problem. She’s one hell of a ride. The same fading interest applies with the “THUMP” of the bull. I love bullets. But that’s the sad truth.

and the other thing is this man not rided a thunderbird yet..i am pretty sure about this..because u dont feel the heavy weight wen u r ring a thunderbird..
pls write the review only after getting a gud knowledge..it will misleads the readers
u can never compare a royal enfield bike with a bajaj..

i accept with rohith, i am also having a 2003 thunderbird, not a twin spark one, but still it gives me around 38-40 kmpl and those who were initially scared of riding a bullet have driven mine and give a +ve reply that its not as tough as it seems. it weight is very less notices one u start rolling. Thunderbird is the best.

Dont know who got this funny idea of comparing the BULL with the pups. I have been using the Bullet (initially standard (1987) then Superstar (1990), later electra 4s and now thunderbird. I did give a try to the avaenger too. OK for city but somehow you do not get the “feel” of reliability and ruggedness associated with the long distance cruisers. I would say that the Avanger is for wannabe cruisers. I did Delhi- Tanakpur- Champawat- Pithoragarh- Narainswami Ashram, cruising upto 12000 ft on the Bullet 4 S… Bad roads or at times almost no roads but the bike handled superble. I am sure Thunderbird will be even better. But I have strom apprehensions for the avenger. \

But I will still say it is a good stepping stone for the wannabe cruisers to get on the real Cruisers. (Am waiting to get on the Harleyt

Guys, I own an avenger 180 that is 4 years old. Like Ajit said, the engine is’nt as long lasting as the bullets unless you take care of it like a baby! But the looks are really sexy and they make heads turn where ever they go and it gives an overall mileage of 47 kmpl and thunderbird returns a healthy 41 kmpl which is good for a bike of that size and power..
But the only thing, in my point of view, missing in avenger is a thumpy torquey engine!!

Hii to all my friends, let me tell you one thing here . its true we cant compare Thunder bird with Avenger , as thunder bird has more power than Avenger , but in case of value for money Avenger is best as we get it in the price 75,000/- but thunder bird , 1.3Lk.. its up to u whether to choose thunder bird or Avenger , but guys if u want to purchase any Bajaj bike then its the No-1 in comparison with all other bajaj bikes and if u want to purchase a more power bike then go for thunder bird , every vehicle need some maintainace , whether its a car or a bike , so be ready to maintain , a simple advice i can give if u r ready to enjoy the bike for a short period with a cruise style and low maintainace then go for avenger , but if u want a bike for a long time like more than 5-10 years, and if ur pocket can afford a high value bike then go for TB …..mileage is a same in both the bike the thing is that how u ride and maintain ur bike .Always try to take it as a member of ur family it ll take care of urs in the road .

see both are good but Avenger is economic. Riding that bike will give you a lot pleasure after doing hectic IT job of 10 hrs.
Regarding looks see the size of rear wheel its thick which look very strong & awesome. Its more like Harley Davidson Bikes which is one of the main thing contribute in giving it a good look .Anyway don’t think to much just go for it.

I have been seriously considering buying either the 220 cc Avenger or the Thunderbird. From all the reviews I have seen (on the websites and from people who drive both bikes, I feel this review given above is very accurate. Bullets have a huge fan base due to the length of time it has been in market, however all bullet fans tell me that much more care (and knowledge of parts) needs to be taken for their bikes and they tend to have much more issues with the bike even in the first 3 years (electrical and mechanical issues) +ve s being the bike will last forever and the loud noise (which actually is not for everyone). When it comes to acceleration the Avenger easily out strips the Thunderbird and that too on an 180 cc not 220 cc. It is true there are only 2 offical service centres for avenger in bangalore but the service is very good, and you will not find many problems with the avenger apart from changing the clutch wire after 3 yrs and shifting to neutral is a common problem. Gas mileage is quite low 25km/ litre is a more realistic opinion. After placing the order for a Thunderbird you will most probably be waiting for half a year or more to get your bike where as you can easily get an avenger in 1 month + the price of a thunderbird is 1L 7K vs avenger 70K. Avenger 220 also has 19.3@8400 hp vs the comparison above and tourque is 17.5@7000 rpm. Comfort and long rides goes to avenger based on handle position and low riding position however pillion would not be very comfortable especially off road-> Based on what I have analysed and not on emotional quota I would say Avenger is a better buy in terms of price, maintenance for first 3/4 years, performance, and spare part availability.

Guys
I own a 2007 avenger ( done up in custom matte black ) , she had K&N air filters (no more ) and i’ve done close to 35k Kms . A friend of mine recently brought a 2005 Thunderbird . After having ridden both the bikes i couldnt agree more with the article.
Although i’m in love with the Enfield , the Avenger delivers when required . Please understand the Price difference and the Target Sement.
I aspire to go in for a bigger bike a 1000 cc plus by next year (an enfield is always something i wanted but wont now) because the avenger is more practical. If you love classic bikes and love the lineage go in for the thumper ( for the sound , which i love). But for riders who want all of the above Avenger it is gentlemen.

Hi Guys,
Lots of good reviews, i recently booked a Thunderbird Twinspark and i was afraid of the Enfiwld bcos of the weight and over and above that i have a SLIPDISC and if the bike falls on me i will never rise again on my feet. When i went to the showroom in Bangalore and sat on the Thunderbird and tried it move it, it was like hot knife thru butter, i did not feel any weight and it moved very easily, after that i took a rest ride and as used to my Honda Unicorn of short gear change i was hitting the between position i.e. neutral after every gear. When i booked after test drive i was given a waiting period of 6-8 months i was heart broken. But it sparked me a new idea(which is like a virus and will overpower you) i exchange my Honda Unicorn(amazing bike) with a second hand 2006 Thunderbird.
I had done a test ride on both Thunderbird and Avenger 220CC with kickstart(dont’ know what happens if battery is down) as the dealer had both for sale. After much contemplation i decided on the Thunderbird..as the dealer quotes “Its an Asset Sir, you can even sell it for a higher price and even you son can ride it”. The riding experience is totally different. In Avenger i felt like “Riding a Machine” and in Thunderbird i felt like “Riding an animal” you can feel in your whole body when u ride a Thunderbird.
It always depends on what you priority is when you are riding and of course that changes from time to time. For me when ride my Thunderbird i feel i on a BULL raging and running. I like that feeling but many might not. People do give looks and many give way to me.
Enjoy the Thump and Feel that you are really riding something and in true sense.

But me alone thinks it suits me well all round coz thatz my choice. I’ve read all the comments above and I wanted to tell you guys. At the end of the day itz your personal choice, itz like chosing a Wife. “KUCH PAANE KE LIYE KUCH KHONA PARTA HAI”. There’s always a PLUS and a MINUS, no one can escape this. Also it depends on your pocket how heavy is it loaded with cash ! If I have the money I will straight away buy a HARLEY or a CUSTOM MADE CHOPPER and thatz again my choice no matter wat people say, I will always stick to it.

Hi All,
After reading lots of tussle between Avenger and TBTS, I want tell you one thing that if there was any provision to mount TBTS engine in Avenger then I would go for that because the only point that Avenger wins on TBTS that the riding comfort. I can say this because I have both the bikes in my house (TBTS for my brother and Avenger200 for me).
And one last word, if you can put your hand deep into your pocket then go for TBTS else go for Avenger.

hey guys, i own a thunderbird myself and my good friend has an avenger 220, so i have driven enough miles on both… i speak of city driving on the renowned roads of chandigarh…
i feel the avenger looks amazing, but the looks are not original, its like a copy of Triumph Thunderbird 1600, so no credit to bajaj for that… the thunderbird looks exceptionally good and macho, and as i have removed the backrest, it looks agile, ready to burn some tarmac…
the avenger has a good acceleration, thanks to the light weight, but the 350cc block on the TB churns out so much power, nothing beats it… also, i tried churning out both the bikes on one specific track with red line gear shifts, and the TB gets past 110kph in seconds, while the avenger seemed compromised thanks to the missing 130cc…
i even jumped an 8-10 inch divider with my thunderbird, but couldnt do the same with the avenger, and its wide rear tire burnt rubber in vain…
while the seating of avenger is greatly more comfortable than the TB for cruising, yet, in city driving, the front placing of the gears and foot brakes in avenger feel uncomfortable when u have to step on the road at a red light etc… and thats what i felt in CHANDIGARH!! cant imagine it with other cities like my hometown gurgaon…
also, the handling and control is better in thunderbird because of the lesser angle of the front axis with the body…
and those who love the thump may get a goldy silencer implanted into the TB (which i saw someone had also tried doing with an avenger here and made a joke of the bike)… and those who dont want too much thump, go for the stock silencer, its not too loud…
on the fuel average discussuin, i would like to state, my TB gives me 48-52kmpl regularly (checked it thrice, riding below 3000rpm) and it amazes my bullet owning friends, who get around 35kmpl… no comments on the avenger as i did never personally check its average…
and for the head turning capability, i would definitely say, the thunderbird spins every head when u roar past them, the avenger never did…
for concluding my midnight report (its past 12 now) on this vague comparison between the beauty and the beast, i would like to quote what is printed on my plate
“da difference between this beast and your lil’ toys;
separates the REAL MEN from the BOYS…”
take care, ride safe…

Whoever compared the bikes rides the “Avenger” for sure. The facts are wrong, the twin spark deliver 42 kmpl on road and is 150cc more than the avenger.. The Thunderbird is the most awesome bike for Indian roads
abhijeet responded on 06 Apr 2011 at 10:07 am #
Bajaj Avenger is a good bike for those whos height is below 5 feet 7 inch.Another aspect, new Avenger has 220 cc (Avenger 220 DTS-i) engine which is oil-cooled type this means you need to put oil in the radiator.I am not sure about the radiator quality as I seen many P200 and P220 oil leaks.
Another thing, the Avenger 220 DTS-i has the same engine of P220 bike and due to the radiator it consumes more petrol even it stops at the signals.
No comments about the mileage of Avenger but it is for sure that the RE TBTS returns 38 to 40 KMPL, again depends upon the rider.
Now about the reliability of both the bikes,
Avenger is previously known as Eliminator with 175cc engine, how many of us seen the Eliminator on road on today’s date? the answer is simple, once in a month if you are living in metros, otherwise no, not at all!
About Royal Enfield reliability, it is not just love of the people commented above the reliability of any bullet bike. The RE stands for generations, one of my friend is using his dads bullet 350 which was purchased in 1982.Many of us see the old bulls across the city every day.
Here is a little calculation:
Mileage of Avenger: 35 to 40kmpl (as website owner said and I am considering 220cc Avenger)
Mileage of Thunderbird: 40kmpl for sure (search it on internet and read the owners reviews)
Avenger engine: 220cc (new Avenger )
TBTS engine: 350cc
Avenger life: 10 years
TBTS life: more than 20 years
Avenger 220cc cost:Approx 90,000
TBTS cost: 1,20,000
The TBTS cost 30,000 to 35,000 more than the new Avenger 220cc but you will get more power, more mileage (in terms of engine power and mileage ratio),reliability as many bullet owners often went to leh and ladakh, more power and one most impotent aspect, for bullet you dont need a pro-biking mechanic to solve your bike problem.

it is costly but how many have seen a avenger 5 yr old in condition …
but u can easily use a enfield for 10 years without any major maintenance cost…… minor things can go on as u r using a machine…
Ithink if u r going to buy a cruser then u should buy a thunder bird its atrue value for money. if u r going just for the modern looks then buy a avenger…..becaus u have to impress a girl…the girl will also go after 3 years & avenger also…. but the bird will always fly with u….

Hi All,
Here one thing i can see is, TBTS riders are having ego of their machines. They treat other bikers and bikes as crap. Why this? I owe both these bikes(TBTS-2009 Avenger 220-2010), but my personal suggestion is Avenger 220. My TBTS is having lots of maintainance issues. Avenger is going smooth.

Avenger 220 40-45 kmpl
TBTS 38 -42
Acceleration : Avenger Wins
Torque: My TBTS wins.(I love it)
Breaking: Avenger 220(Front disk only, rear is bad)

Hai guys,
Saw the reviews from all parts… But I don’t think its good to compare a vehicle from Royal enfield family with Bajaj.. Two of them have their own class.. I think Every bullet is Royal and an asset….
I just brought one Thunderbird Twin Spark, on 06.05.2011, just driven 100 Kms.. But its amazing.. I feel the others who watches me on the bike like the students stands up and wishes their teachers… I am proud to own..
I havn’t either driven a tbt or avenger before.. But I owned a pulsur ( 2002 - 150 Kick start- 5 gear down), it was good for that time, but when competitors came I felt something bad…
I will compare a RE - TBT and Avenger , Just like a Shaving set, which changes its blade and uses for a life time …. and a use and throw shaving set…
I don’t think Avenger is a competent to TBT..!!!!

Common yaar, RE guys, come out of your world, I also owe an RE TBTS but i will be happy to accept the truth that, bike is a bike. You hav to compare it based on its performance, not on manufacturer.

It seems the author is very biased and he had never ridden a ThunderBird. I have never rode a Avenger , but can speak from the experince of my close firend having an Avenger, and from nuemerous street fights in which my ThunderBird and many Avengers involved. First the Author did the mistake of comparing two different class motorcycles. My friend claim that his Avenger engine is very cool even after riding 350 Kms continiously, thanks to the oil cooled system. But I have always ridden my Beast continiously for 700KM on every return trip from Kanyakumari to Bangalore non-stop. I too does not feel the engine is very hot. The nemerous Avengeres and Yamaha Fzes I have chased in street fights in Bangalore outer ring road seems to have a good pickup till 60Kmph, but once the point is reached the Beast mulls over them. I have ridden my Bull in torrential thunder stroming rain for hundreds of kilometers many times with out any balancing issues. People who have entered the stagnet water on the road in excess of 90Kmph will know what I am saying. I have touched speed of 130 kmph (my tacho showed, real speed may be around 120-125) consitently and have maintaned it for kilometers, many a times. I doubt an Avenger can do this. ThunderBird delivers a conistent torque thought the entiere RMP range, same cannot be said for Avenger. Look at the spec of Avenger and see at what RPM it delivers the peak power. As somebody has pointed out earlier Avenger is for somebody who want to tryout a cruiser. Though I think evey now and then, there room for improvement in Thunderbird, I cant imagine any Indian motorcycle (ofcourse we have big brother 500cc) has the cababilities to dare at ThunderBird. ThunderBird is a Beast, Avenger is a dometicated animal.

I think I do not want to Critisize the Review or I do not want to explain about the difference between a TBT and DTSi as its like reviewing a 800 with Humvee
The OnROad Price of Bullet ThunderBird in Bangalore is 121,000. They are asking atleast 6 months time to deliver th vehicle. But this is not true in the case of other places.
In my Home town, the price is 115,000 and they are ready to deliver the Bike immediately.

Hello all…..
Well after reading the review n responses, i can say for sure tht riding a TBTS makes you ’self obsessed’ n ‘cocky’…. I mean your strongest points are ‘It’s from RE’ n ‘It is 130cc more’! You guys are speaking like you live on 6 lane highways and drive 300km everyday!!
I really appreciate the person for a detailed review of the two bikes and i blv tht the review is not for oldies who have relished on TBTS but for ppl like me n many oders who think it’s time for cruisers! And plz stop yellin jus coz the poor guy got the mileage horribly wrong
K here are my reasons / conditions, Would really appreciate help from all you guys
And i am the self-obsessed kind
- Am 21, tall (6′3”) n lean, been getting slight back-aches n leg cramps wid my old pulsar 150, soo wanna ride sumthin more comfortable!!
- 90,000 or 1,20,000 is not a big issue, i think i can push
- took test ride for both, not used to either, but think i can handle both in time!
- Will b doin city riding mostly and ofcourse loooooong trips in weekends
- I really DO NOT wanna pay for anything apart from petrol n regular 3 month checkup for atleast 2-3 years (Plz tell how much does this checkup cost for each!)
- And yes i tend to get possessive of bike, cant keep her for servicing for more than a day! (I’ll b in Bangalore)
- I am aware that once you go RE you dont go back
Lookin forward for some help

Dear Author,
I am sorry to say but your comparison has not displayed more important features. I think you are more driven by the economy factor. TB is an all in all different segment and can’t be compared or rather let me say should not be compared.
Before giving reviews and or making comparison, please drive the vehicles and feel the actual substance rather pulling up information from googling.
Sorry to be rude, but have your basics RIGHT.
Thanks

At 6 feet… an avenger would look very tiny with you on top. A T-Bird would be better. I’m 5′8 and I use a standard 350cc and planning to get a T-Bird soon.
Oh and yes I would still go for a T-Bird… heck I would choose a Rajdhoot or an RX 100 over an Avenger. Why???? Cause it sucks……

I got a RE TB 2003 model.
Cons:
It’s heavy.
mileage’s not that great (avg 30-35 kmpl).
Pillion seater always complains, how painful its with the shocker’s (planning to upgrade to endurance gas shockers).
worst: petrol leak from the tank cover(replaced the rubber so many times no help.)
No electric start: Pain in a** in traffic.
Pros:
when you start the bike and ride it, u forget all the pain it’s been giving you. Sound is awesome (goldy silencer).
No filthy sounds like bajaj bikes do after 4-5 years. (and this beast is now almost 8 yrs old)
Summing up in a single line:
Men ride thunderbird … boys ride avenger.

I own a Thunderbird. Brought it back in 09′, still packs quite a punch, enough to make heads turn. However the Thunder is for the true rider. Its the definition of being an Indian Biker. A real badass if i must say. Comparing an avenger to this well, not really worth the effort. Before i got this i was gonna go for the avenger. But several owners warned about the lack of spares and delay and bad services, i decided to go with the thumper. Sure its got its own fair share of problems, but that’s feeling you get when you ride off with the engine roaring beneath you is just otherworldly. An avenger really don’t fit the cruiser category imo, cause its powered by a pulsar’s engine. I mean come on how lame is that? You don’t feel the “life” in it. The only differences are the looks and seating.

well people i own avenger 200 2010 model. on an average i ride atleast 120 km per day…..i ride it from 300 km to 500km one way. i dont find that it is less powerfull. though i personally love enfiled (but not thunderbird). And i ride avenger solo to the remotest of roads and never troubled me in nycase. The best part is the tyres i had a flat tyre once in 21000 kms. These bikes are made for cruising and not city driving so take out them to the longdrives on highways thats wat they r good at..the more u ride them in cruising mode the better will be their perfomance.
and for people who thinks avenger is any less come out on highway both will ride neck to neck. enfileds cannot pass the avengers on highways.

HI TO EVERYONE..
I ‘M A TBTS USER.and my close frnd is having avenger 220, so i have driven some kms on both…
i speak of city driving on the roads of chennai…
i feel the avenger looks amazing,
but the looks are not original,
its like a copy of Triumph Thunderbird 1600,
so no credit to bajaj for that…
the thunderbird looks exceptionally good
and
the avenger has a good acceleration,
thanks to the light weight(when i moved a little, its going like a butter in mouth),
but the 350cc gives u so much power, nothing beats it…
also, i tried burn out both the bikes on one specific track with red line gear shifts,
and the TBTS gets past 110kph in seconds,
while the avenger seemed compromised thanks to the missing 130cc…
while the seating of avenger is greatly more comfortable than the TBTS for cruising,
yet, in city driving, the front placing of the gears and foot brakes in avenger feel uncomfortable
when u have to step on the road at a red light etc… and
thats what i felt in CHENNAI!!
also, the handling and control is better in thunderbird because of the lesser angle of the front axis with the body…
and those who love the thump may get a goldy silencer implanted into the TB (which i saw someone had also tried doing with an avenger here and made a joke of the bike)… and those who dont want too much thump, go for the stock silencer, its not too loud…
on the fuel average discussuin, i would like to state, my TB gives me 48-52kmpl regularly (checked it thrice, riding below 3000rpm) and it amazes my bullet owning friends, who get around 35kmpl… no comments on the avenger as i did never personally check its average…
and for the head turning capability, i would definitely say, the thunderbird spins every head when u roar past them, the avenger never did…
for concluding my midnight report (its past 12 now) on this vague comparison between the beauty and the beast, i would like to quote what is printed on my plate
“da difference between this beast and your lil’ toys;
separates the REAL MEN from the BOYS…”
FRNDS PLS DON’T COMPARE METAL GUNS WITH PLASTIC(TOY) GUNS

hi Guys..
first of all thanks to the author and all those who posted their comments..u bet I read each and every comment…
I jut booked a TB and came to this page to read the reviews…I hav been fascinated by TB for yrs and finally got it booked at the age pf 48..so TB is more of a choice for me which also fits to my somewhat strecthed budget..
Initially i was scared by the weight but when took the test drive, the ride was smooth..they hav also put a lever so that u can put the beast to stand which is gd for a small person like me 5.5…
i hav seen avengers on the street and one thing i can say that after few yrs it looks in bad shape…howevr the opposite holds for TB..
the author may nt br right in comapring the two but its gd to bring such an article as we were able to compare our views o both the bikes…ys the bias seems 2 b in favor of Bajaj, whih the author shld justify by writing his ow comments..
anyway , i think TB shld give me gd ride and i hope my son wll also be able to drive it…
rest asured

hi guys,
I owned bjaj 220 with the windshield (plz note). Coz it makes a difference in many aspects. It looks cool…on every red light when u stop ppl start staring at u……N way u will b sitting on it feels like a king of the road. Comfortable position of the seat n brakes along with the windsheild you can imagine urself driving a car….thats all about the style…..If you are standing in the front row on a red light…as soon as it turn green n u will throttle ……nobody can catch u up..not even in a car…i can bet on that…soon you will realize u are all alone by looking in your rear mirror……thats about the power it gives 2 u…..it costs me less than 80000 rs on road….guys if you have more money then go for Harley (available in India now)….I have never checked its mileage coz b4 buying it i was planning for a car. I have drived this machine for almost 16 hrs of course with the pit stops and next day it was like everyday…u can imagine about the comfort now….I have started my journey from chandigarh to JP cement plant ( bagha in distt solan h.p., one of the asia’s biggest plant at the top of hills), from there to shimla to delhi…almost 800 kms with all types of road conditions….all this you will get with an Avenger, now bad things….I have to take extra care at the speed breakers coz it does touch down, In the night have problems with windsheild…On the sharp turns on the hills you can feel your foot touching down to the ground..rear seat not well cushioned (my g.f. does complain)…front tyre is too far so have to stop a distance from vehicles standing in the front in traffic (have to take extra care), to start the engine have to lean down to find the key hole….(i do’t know the reason behind this kind of style the company has chosen). .The name Avenger does not sound that much as like “Eliminator”. You have to look for Service stations in your city.
Now guys I have’t rode a THUNDERBIRD yet..so does’t want to comment on that….only thing i want to say …..nobody cares how much sound you create when you are passing through the streets or you standing in the traffic …..ask your g.f. as well wts her opinion about the noise…… so if u want to feel like GOD …then go for avenger n want to be a kind of jatt….(bullet doodhwala) then go for whatever u want……….:)

Have been riding bikes for close to 16 years now.My first bike was a Suzuki Samurai and crashed it around for 9 years …the bike had serious stability during hard braking
, ever since i’m riding a Honda Unicorn for close to 7 years ..pretty good bike…excellent engine…great stability…comfortable riding posture…it’s the best bike to ride in city…and the only competition is from Pulsar 150cc of course…had many classic jousts with them…won some and lost some ;)…
now i feel i’ve outgrown the Unicorn too…so got my friend whose been riding a Bullet for ages and took test rides on Classic 350 and TBTS…my heart said go for the Classic but my soul said go for the TBTS and that’s it…booked the TBTS…Waiting with bated breath for the 6 months cooling period to get over…
One of my neighbor’s own an Avenger …looks cool too…but somehow it doesn’t evoke the same feeling which i get, when i longingly gaze at the proud Thunderbird owners…thumping down the road.
…and in the meantime ,my ever reliable Unicorn keeps me good company…and even when my TBTS comes i’m still gonna keep my loyal Unicorn too…coz the memories we share are too deep…hope to create my own moments with my future Thunderbird too !!!

I cant believe that this thread is on from May 2010…. ( seems more like a blood feud between the clans… hehehe)
neways guys…. I have been riding an avenger 200 (dec 2007 model)… have clocked more than 25000 kms in the last 18 months. Do long rides quite frequently and just FYI i ride solo most of the time….
One of my real good friends owns a T’bird avl. I have ridden both the bikes (and have spent days in the garage getting for the both the bikes repaired)… so i can assure you that this is one the most unbiased opinion u can get…
The T’bird rides like a beauty… the sound the vibrations, the power, the feel… incomparable…. but there is a small issue…. bcus of the height and sound and the power… i tend to look down on every body else as long as im on the T’bird..
The avenger might not compare to T’bird on power… but the comfort level in an avenger is unmatched…i feel so comfortable in an avenger i just dont feel like pulling the throttle too much… plus on rides i tend to sleep at night most of the time on my avenger and am not too stiff in the morn. can still ride for another 400kms the next day
The T’bird is very good on most of the terrains… excellent for off roading.. imo
An avenger will handle most of the terrains as long as you are considerate…. an avenger can handle wet roads ( once even an oil spill) with ease thanks to the rear tyre.
Im a 6′5 tall guy… and am sort of chubby ;)… look wise a stock TB looked better on me than a stock avenger…. (got extended handles diamond guard and an indore silencer on my avenger)… now i look good on my avenger….
for maintenence and cost… would you care to count how much u spend on ur girl or how much cost u had to incurr on ur kids food … if u do pls take the bus…. bikes are not invented for u
for the people who say that bajaj engine die after 5 - 10 years… u are mistaken… can u tell me if u have ever met bajaj rider who cares for his bike as an RE rider does…. i have and that is why i say u r wrong… (one person i know of owns an avenger 180 which is a 2004 model - one without a self and that baby is shining hard and riding strong)
But for an RE bikes staying alive for so long…. most of the credit also goes to the RE riders… man!!! u guys are good at taking care of ur bikes…. all of u really inspire me…. honest…
I would say my friends Tbird is awesome… she is one hell of a ride and if i would rate a T bird more than an avenger (but that doesnt change the fact that i love my avenger)..
Some thing i have always believed… an RE is like a foreign chick and bajaj is like a desi wife…. the desi wife will take all of ur bullshit and put up with ur inconsiderate behaviour as long as it can and finally when she cant deliver any more then u kick her out or sell her in this case… but at the first sign of any abuse the foreign chick will kick ur ass leave u in the middle if the road just holding on to ur balls… may be thats y bajaj riders tend to abuse their bikes…
for any one planning to choose a bike…. go the bike that u like… dont care about what others say… every bike has something good to offer…. go for what u wud want the most….
I doesnt matter what make of the bike u ride. what matters is that u ride.

Thunderbird is a real Lion.Iam an Additional Divisional Forest Officer in the Elite Forest Services accustomed to offroads and undulating terrains. My Thunderbird (Black TBTS) just grinds everything, no matter whatever is ahead it dispatches with disdain.I have a great passion for tough things & I own a massive hunk Bolero,I was thinking for a suitable two wheeler match & all I could think was TBTS.Bullet is an asset, its pride, its power, its passion & what not.I had a ride with pulsar, avenger, hero hondas,& the mighty Yezdi 250. Every bike has something special.avenger is smooth, easy to handle, comfortabe & stylish. But believe me folks Bullet is Bullet. It is also useless to compare 2 machines of diametrical difference. And for those who opine that Bullet is a boredome for beauties, let me say that Iam a 6 ft tall athletic man of 27 who has just completed his 2 years of paramillitary training as a probationer at Dehradun & when I ride my Bullet Thunderbird in weekends at glamorous streets all eyes not just turn but stare.

Thunderbird is in a league when compared to avenger. “The Avenger is famous for its low styling and a powerful engine which passes the Thunderbird in a blink of eye” dis is a Fking funny comment.. Every one who owns a TBTS knows the pickup of the thunderbird.. Dis is the best bike for long rides. The TBTS engine is 350cc n still gives a standard 35kmpl where as the Avenger engine is just 200cc but gives just 35kmpl…
also dont compare the TBTS’s net power to the avenger.
TBTS delivers 19.5BHP at 5000RPM n Avenger delivers 17.5bhp at 8000rpm…
Please note the difference in RPMS too…
how many off us ride at 8000rpms…

I have been reading this thread since I decided to buy my 1st Bike (I am not counting Activa) and after the long but worthy wait I got my THUNDERBIRD…. And the thread still continues
Man, what a bike !!! Super power, Super Looks, Super Stability and Super Average for the power it generates.
I may not be the right person to comment about the Avenger for its performance but looks wise Thunderbird is a head-turner; at every signal, petrol pump, parking lots, etc, you get those envious looks.
About comparison between these two bikes, I would say it’s about the class of Enfield which Overtakes that of Bajaj, in spite of Avenger being a good looking & performing bike.
Its like comparing Naseruddin Shah with Amitabh Bachchan, both are great actors but Amitabh has a Charisma of his own !!!

does presence of temples around the country PROVE to you that there exists a god…. no it doesnt… will it make you believe in a god for no apparent reason…. no it wont…. it just shows that there are people there who worship an idol…
temples = motorcycle clubs - do the math….
when u can find chicks to date through the internet how difficult is it to find somebody else who has the same make as your bike…
wearing the colors of a club has got nothing to do with the passion for riding.

What kind of a crappy comparison is this?? My Thunderbird gives a mileage of 40-42 in the city. Where did editor saab get his inside info?? I have seen an Avenger many times beside my Thunderbird and it looks like a midget, a long one albeit. On a Thunderbird, you feel like a king, you feel like you lord over everyone else. Considering the engine output, acceleration, stability and mileage, it may be the best tw-wheeler in India. Ride it to feel the difference.
I understand that the Avenger guys have to do some PR to sell the stuff but this is taking it a bit too far.

The mileage of Thunderbird is 36-40KMPL in city and 45KMPL on Highways (long rides) . My brother-in-law is using thunderbird from past 5 years and its mileage is still above 35KMPL in city.My Boss got a new thunderbird in 2011 and its mileage is the same . So thunderbird is very consistent in mileage. How can someone compare it with avenger that too with out getting the facts right.
Jeetesh responded on 26 Dec 2011 at 4:38 pm #
First of all Thunder bird is not a cruiser. Rear tires are not wide and virbates a lot in high speeds and has reliability issues. Just because it belongs to Royal Enfield Family doesn’t mean its good. In fact its the worst bike of Royal Enfield. BEst being Bullet and now Classic. Likewise except Avenger all other Bajaj bikes suck in a big way. Aveneger is the best bike & is the real crusier bike in terms of design and theory whereas thunderbird tries to but fails miserably as its design is awful and not cruiser like.

I am planing to buy a bike. I have gone through each and every word of this thread. I planned to own the TBTS. I have one doubt about the comparison. If Avenger is giving better acceleration, better performance serve better look with low price then why a people are rushing behind the TBTS? Is it for name and the irritated waiting time?
Jigsaw responded on 04 Jan 2012 at 1:44 am #
@Partha
the TBTS is pretty powerful. imo the accelation is better than that of the avenger ( i ride an avenger 200 )… TBTS is in demand bcuz of the name on the fuel tank RE. if u love the TBTS then go for it… cuz if u do go for any other bike (even if it is another model from RE) there will be times when u feel like u shud gone for TBTS
These are matters of the heart and any amount of brainstorming wont do you any good…
@goutam - pls read btwn the lines for what i think abt ur comments
lolz..!!….its very funny….u are comparing a bull with goat..
if a well maintained 220cc goat can catch up to a well maintained 350cc bull… then why bother going for the bull….
i agree, looks of avenger s better than TB. but TB has its own RE style, powerfull engine with high torque..!!
your high torque is compensated by my higher RPMs… and u find more RE engines seizing up than avenger engines ( or be it any other honda or yamaha bikes also )… most avenger riders prefer to $crerw up their engines during the running in period
.nd i am sure TB gives more mileage than Avenger.
as mentioned above… given that the avenger rider is patient and sensible enuf to cover his run in period properly… an avy gives a higher avg ( m getting an avg of 42-45kmpl in city 48-49kmpl in long rides after 4 years + i have changed my silencer to the indore which reduced my avg )… hope ur getting my point
!!….nd …if 10 men on a bike s possible, bull ll pull..!!……goat just sleeps.!!…
who cud be that stingy when travelling
10 ppl on a bike…
the goat wont sleep… it will laugh its a$$ out… and the bull will be doing the crying…
Listen guys… its not a debate about who has the better bike and who does not… every body has got a different need… tats y v have different bikes to choose from
i think it is high time we all decided to grow up (me included) and help out the newbies in choosing a bike that they can cherish and ride for a long time…
when im riding and something untoward happens to me on the highway i hope that another rider will help me out.. the make of the bike is not important…likewise i dont turn away from another biker who needs help just bcuz he is not riding an avenger

Its a strong bike n will last for yrs…Take care of it n it will love u in return. I have booked a tbts n it should be with me by the next 20 days…..I personally found the avenger very low n ground clearance is nt too good….the weight of the bike is nt an issue coz in the end ur only gonna ride it n nt carry it on ur head…. Hi…
I had owned Thunderbird for 4 years…sold it yesterday for 35k. Well… I can tell you from my experience that everytime I went to some mechanic to get it sorted out for some issue or the other he would ask me ” Why did you buy this bike?”… Thunderbird, for me atleast, was not a great bike. It is the kind of bike that requires constant maintainence. There were issues with the clutch wires breaking on continuous usage in traffic, problems with the tappet adjustments, oil leaks from the engine compartment, etc. In my opinion, one must buy this bike only if one has a lot of time and patience to keep getting it repaired and pampered. If you lead a busy life, with 10-11 hrs work life, I don’t think you would consider frequent visits to the mechanic some kind of recreation time.
If you want a Bullet, go for the standard secon hand one…It is a simple device and all the mechanics are bred on it. I don’t think there still are any mechanics for the new UCE twinspark engine except for those in the dealerships.
Consider carefully before you make a purchase based just on emotion and peer pressure. It might just turn out to be a very hard love. And Expensive too.

Lol.. this was really a funny review… He says “Riding them in red line gear change will reduce the economy by 5 to 10kmpl”. This is really funny man.I accept Avenger looks fine and is comfortable. No offense.
1) Th’bird has a mileage of 38-45 kmpl which is more than Bajaj Avenger
2) A Royal Enfield will make you feel heavy when you are trying to put it on the main stand, but it feels the lightest when you drive. So, I am very clear that you have never ever got a chance to drive T’bied or any enfield. thats OK. My wishes are with you..
People, I am not against Bajaj Avenger, but An Avenger just looks like a cruiser. All the cruisers are actually thumpers. When you get to hear a thump, you can recognize that there is a cruiser behind you. Thy turn their heads with their sound. Most of the people loves Enfield’s for their sound. Dude, if you love to drive a smooth Bike, then you have many other options. Bajaj copied the look of a Hardley but the thump is still absent. An Avenger looks good till it is parked.
Different Bikes are good for different reasons. None of them can be compared to an Enfield. Only a man will love it. Every man in our country loves it. It is the best of all Indian bikes and cannot be compared to any other.

Look at all the comments posted. Majority are for the Thunderbird. And the reason I bought up the the motorcycle clubs is because of the passion involved. Nothing about idols or chicks or wearing colors of a club. Different people coming together all bound by one thing…. their love of their bikes. They form a bond with their bike and meet up with like minded people. This is what I intended to bring up. Bajaj bikes way outnumber RE bikes but you don’t see any Bajaj bike club. Like I said before, There’s something that transcends beyond the technical specs. That’s what you get when you own a RE bike and not with a Bajaj bike. Bonding with your bike is very much a part of the passion of riding, and nothing like sharing a ride with like minded people.
Oh and BTW the Avenger’s looks is a copy of the Triumph “Thunderbird”, just like those Hindi movies that are a ripoff from Hollywood movies…. and well RE just took the name
Shreetanu das responded on 24 Jan 2012 at 7:21 am #
Yes the guy who wrote the review seemed bias,
No wonder the thunderbird is really cool and powerful, but the reason that all enfields should be hated is not the thumping sound , but the tweaks that are made to the thumping sound, seriously guys who buy bullet have a psychological status problem, the thumps might make your heart melt , but going on long rides makes it boring, as u only hear the thumping.
But with the avenger, its not so, maintanence depends from yourself, a nice average will be what you will be looking after a long run, if you are spending your own money, not from your dads pocket. Avenger is much more classier, muscle, elegant and smooth. Its not for the rogues, its for the adventurer inside you.
I own an avenger 2006 model, done 50,000 kms, but the engine is still smooth, turns have good balance and yes i still get a solid 120km/h on the highways, and i wouldnot even feel it. And yes the grip on the roads is better on turnings, trust me on that.
After all,
I am not a rogue, i am an adventurer,
I am not a lion, i am the tiger,
I am not bully , yes i am classy
No iam not fool, cleverer than being edgy
I am a patriot, not in the hands of the british still, i am an AVENGER
Did u get me still?

Lol.. Wherever you copied it form, it was good. Have you noticed the sound of the Bullet with the new Euro 4 sil.??? It sounds well and if you get a Tilted silencer, it sounds perfect. You can cruise at a speed of 120 with much more stability than an Avenger. However, an Avenger is heavy too and it sticks to the road as well as a Bullet do.
Well, there are a few people who doesnt love the thumps but are wanna be a cruiser riders, Avenger os good for them. I’m just not very fond of Bajaj Bikes but I prefer Yamaha or a Honda. I would have been a fan of Yamaha if they cud launch Enticer in 150-200cc.
And Shreetanu , the new Bullets make a strange noise at the start, say upto 4-5k kms, other than the thumping sound but as the Bullet goes old, it fits better and the Handling part of the new Bullets are far better than the Avenger.
I am surprised to know that your Avenger has completed 50k kms and still running smooth as I have never seen one. However, you may be maintaining it well. Dude, the Bullets with a UCE engines doesnt require maintenance as much as the older ones did. I own a Royal Enfield Classic 350 since last 6 months and didnt have an issue till now.
Well, at the same time, different ppl have different choices, Enfield rocks for me.
I am a proud owner of it.

I really understand that the thunderbird is real muscle , real power, and also providing a decent average, i too got a new info. from my fellow doctor, that the engines have been changed to aluminium and not iron casted from 2003.well since i was missing this info, you are right that the average is pretty decent 35-40.
But again its too cocky, i understand its all “being a man” thing to ride bullet, but i hope u have heard that bullets best fuel economy can be explored at a speed of range 40-60km when u increase throttle , u increase fuel consumption. And please tell me a practical story that how many rides do make to the himalayas or a long run of even 150kms a day. Its the story that when somebody goes for a long ride, then the bullet has the power, then its a ride to remember.
Again royal enfield is not a practical bike.
But once more if dont worry about inc. fuel prices or you have other modes of transport then bullet is an asset to own.
For me, i have been to nainital, kaushani, almora hills, jimcorbett national park, jaipur, chandigarh, sarishka tiger reserve. All destinations from delhi with my friend, who is a sort of navigator, and not much luggages just enough, every time i got an average of 40 km/l, yeah it was a bit low on uphill in terms of power, that too because my avenger was carrying me , my friend and 3 small bags, but i got there.
It does not matter when u reach, it matters about how u reach, and at the end of the day when i calculate my fuel economy i land on the the happier side.
To all avengers
I might not thump,
I might not pump,
But i donot kick back
As i am a four cylinder stack.
I dont roar or scream
To prove my presence i follow the windstream.
I am no petroholic that swings with mood
I am workoholic that works for good.
Thanks to god that i am no heritage
And dtsi technology which makes my life modern age.
After all i am a workhorse, built to work with
Not a powerhorse, built to work for and down with.
I am a machine not built to dream for
I am a machine to fullfill your dreams and to die for.
I am your avenger, with the japenese from the indian soul
Not the thumper, british made stained with indian blood and soul.

Last but not the least , explore the world and explore yourself, life is short for wasting time on which toy you want to ride, saving money, for that dream ride , can be achieved with any bike. Just when you are on the roads keep on enjoying the nature, the people, feel it, understand it.
” leave home” as the thunderbird promotes, but return with a different you, because you dont leave home just to ride, u leave home to explore, to see , to understand , to feel, that is the reason we are humans and not beasts.
Be clever, be healthy, drive safe, wear helmets.
Please never even try to hit a 125 km/h on any bike, otherwise one day i might meet you in emergency ward of safdarjung hospital, new delhi. Every day there are at least 10-12 cases of road traffic accidents, all very young , but couldnot handle youth.

Dear friend,
I have purchased the bike recently and its mileage is 41.1 at the start. However, the mileage improves after 1st and 2nd servicing and it should be upto 45 kmpl. The more I drive the bike the more I love it. Recently I changed its silencer to one provided by the company if purchased. I goes slightly upwards and bend at the end. It looks awesome and the engine sound is amazing. So overall, I loved the bike. However, I strongly feel that I should also keep my Yamaha FZ and should not sell it coz If you drive bullet on a daily basis, you will surely need a change for a day or two and then you can start enjoying Bullet again…

Many of us are proud owners of an RE Bullet. We love our bikes so much - below a ‘take’ on heights of Bulletism:
Heights of The Legendary Royal Enfield BULLET !
1. If any motorbike has 5 litres petrol and a BULLET has 5 litres petrol, the BULLET has more Petrol than the other bike.
2. There is no theory of motorbike revolution. Just a list of jap-crap that the BULLET has allowed to live.
3. BULLET is the reason, Tata’s after buying Jaguar are still afraid to enter the motorbike segment.
4. When a BULLET moves forward, it is not moving. It is pushing the Earth backwards.
5. If you Google search “BULLET bad bike” you will generate zero results. It just doesn’t happen.
6. Contrary to popular belief, the Titanic didn’t hit an iceberg. The ship was off course and accidentally ran into a BULLET which was thumping some sea waves!
7. The First Law of Thermodynamics states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed… unless it meets the BULLET
8. There are only two things that can cut diamonds: other diamonds, and BULLET.
9. The BULLET can go around the earth so fast, that it’s headlights can read its rear numberplate in one throttle.
10. Riding Bullets on Beachsides has been banned. The tsunamis were killing people.
11. The 11th commandment is “Thou shalt not piss off the Royal Enfield BULLET” This commandment is rarely enforced, as it is impossible to accomplish.
12. The RE BULLET is “The best a man can get”
Thump PROUD folks!

Folks - I read the entire review ONLY because the BAD QUALITY of this article amused me and made me incredulous.
The author evidently has ZERO experience of Cruiser Bikes and hasn’t driven either a Thunderbird or Avenger sufficiently, to understand the differences between these bikes.
He has no understanding of how Torque makes a difference to riding pleasure, how the Power and Torque is delivered at different RPM ranges, how the gear ratios are spaced, how the in-gear accelerations are different, how the suspensions behave over good and bad roads, riding position for city and highways etc etc….
A very novice and naive article.

Your poem inspired me to write this one
To an avenger From a Bullet
I got the thump,
That will make you jump,
With loads on my back
I do not slack.
I can roar and scream
Letting my owner live his dream.
With my torque no road is an no uphill-task
Am I good enough I have to ask?
I may not have DTSI or anything modern,
But one thing for sure, I don’t give anybody boredom
I may ask a lot yes I do,
But to satisfy your dreams, wouldn’t you do too?
I can give you attention
I can give you even more satisfaction.
Be it anywhere, city or outstation
I’ll take you anywhere with no hassle or complications
I’m from a time where things were simple and honest
Not from this present age, where every politician is a goon and a pest
In these turbulent times of corruption and greed
Casting off all worries and need
I take off, on my back with a load
Just my owner,me and the Road.
Happy Riding

hey guys the thump is just an over rated phenomenon mostly by the street side loosers ask them which is the best car they will nod “maruti 800″ bullet is just an example of how a vehicle is heavily overrated its just a heap of junk which needs lots of pampering. cmon the company cant even come up with a solution for the oil leak the age old (almost 20 years) issue with bullets. the shock absorbers gives out a squeaky noise after 800 kms, tappet noise issue, rust underneath fuel tank all which will happily make a hole in the pocket. enfield was awesome in the era of hero honda cd 100 and scooters. ive owned one and will never buy one. the only guys who are satisfied with bullets are the mechanics (who gets regular repair job from it)

What use is the torque on a bullet????
to carry an egotistic braggart.
“If any motorbike has 500ml of OIL and a BULLET has 2 litres of OIL, still there is less oil in the bullet.”
this is the only bike in the whole planet in which the engine oil collects in the air filter panel and that too thru the carb. i guess thats y RE tried releasing classic without a carb. thinking it wud solve the problem. cool idea retards….
one more thing - i can ride my bike at a speed greater than 100 without worrying abt the piston seizing… too bad for u brits

The one who has less than average health and are sick, can never ride an Enfield. The Royal Enfield is only for Indian men.
Its quite simple, not everyone can handle an Enfield and the ones who cant handle will go for a substitute and will be bragging about the same… lol..
And Street Rip, your sentence “cmon the company cant even come up with a solution for the oil leak”. Mate, I guess all you know is what you have learnt from different sources so I can not at all argue with the one who have no idea what he is talking about…
Mates, I thought that people may not be in favour of Enfield but never thought that one can even be against it.. Oh!! I pity those who cant handle the Bull and rather than accepting this, they are talking against it… And I truly pity those who cant afford a bull to.. I am sorry but I cant do anything for that… One who has sense can never speak against enfields and the one who do is either sick, unhealthy, DWARFFFFF lol…. or either cant afford to get an enfield.. and there can be one more reason that their parents may not trust them that they can can handle an Enfield lmao….

open your eyes and look around…or give a second look in the mirror whether u belong to the said category…to ride an enfield you need to be a true egomaniac nd if who have a slight inferiority complex then its an added advantage. these are the true idiots who thinks that farting sound from a heap of metal makes them real men.
what good is the fart sorry thump if you cant even cross a bullock cart?
I totaly agree with your point “The Royal Enfield is only for some Indian men.” who thinks 350cc has the power of two bikes and 500cc 4 bikes.
Hector grow up we are not in hero honda CD100ss era things have changed people have rekon that enfield is just an overrated oil leaking heap of metal thats why there are many here in this forum against the “not so royal enfield” you can collectively call them the “enlightened one’s”
and about domination in road ….Dream on mate even bajaj discoverer outperforms you lot.
any ways Happy thumping but if you hear the roar of an avenger better stop or give way to the KING!

“And I truly pity those who cant afford a bull to.”
talking abt cruiser show me whether ur pocket is big enough to buy a HD or triumph.
the compared bikes are both cheap replicas of cruisers. then the choice is to buy a practical version, historic data proves that enfield may make a big hole in the pocket with its maintanence and the said milage can be achieved btwn 50-60kmph speed anything above that will make the milage to less than 25.
avenger in the otherhand comes from the pulsar stable and is proved as a practicle bike…and by the increasing number of travelogues with avenger i think people are accepting it as a no nonsense bike. (my spell check was not working)

Yes sure Godlike.. I am dominating very very safely.. Since I own an Enfield, I never need to show off… and people are still talking about oil leaks.. lmao.. thats real fun and indicates that they have no idea about the Bullets and they only speak about what they have read in different forums…. As I said earlier, only a man have the guts to purchase and use an Enfield… and the rest can be happy with their Avenger.. and cheers Rahul… you are correct…

OK! SO what were you trying to say here Mr So Called Punk Ass wipe..
Are you serious? what do you mean by “They have similar outputs”?!?! Do you know what is torque? do you know what is BHP? do you know that a BHP of a bike can be pumped real high by changing few minor stuff like Freeflow exhaust, Perf Airfilter and one Big Ass carb? Do you know that a 30 or a 32mm carb is used in Bajaj bikes above 200cc? You know what carbs are fitted on enfields? Trust me, you wouldn’t want to know. The reason why enfield has less acceleration and top end than those japfuckincumdrizzling bikes coz they don’t want a 350cc bike to be overpowered. With friggin 150~220 cc bikes.. hundreds of people die due to road accidents.. imagne what kind of damage a 350 cc will do with those huge ass mods? It won’t leave enough brain cells for you to think. Go home, do some homework and then come back with your “Wannabe Reviews”. MR Automobile Illiterate

trust me enfield is def made for you..so 350 can only have an output of <20bhp? or do you have mor ideas up ur sleeve which includes fitting a goldie silencer will increase torque

@ashuthosh - Indian bullets have output of 20bhp. Its because of a lot of parts which are not meant for a 350cc bike. Have you ever seen the enfields they use outside india? Fed by a 32mm flatside carb, polished headers, racing cams… what not. But where are we going? No where I believe
Oh Yea! Want something more “practicle”?! Go for a bajaj then lol
us guys who don’t give two shits about mileage, will still use bad muthas like bullets
It was more or less like an FYI
/Sarcasm off
gopal narayan responded on 17 Mar 2012 at 7:01 am #

with all the said addons do you think people buy enfield outside india? its considered to be the worst bike…bike enthus spit on bullets …and here is the best thing one of my friend who visited india commented that the enfields sold here are better than the ones they sell abroad.
“practicle”…dosent mean milage alone its a collection of factors which obviously includes milage, since we are comparing two bikes with more or less the same milage you can eliminate it. what abt ASService, maint etc…..:D

In my past I have owned Suzuki Shaolin 1998, Then Pulsar 180 from first 100 bikes manufactured in (2001) and currently I’m using Apache RTR 180. Now my new office has shifted far from my house and I hate to go everyday in Car. However riding on Apache is practically not possible cause the distance is around 45 KM (with return) and the road is really bad, with the age my shoulders have started to complain if I drive daily on Apache to office and back. When I bought Apache in the same week my brother in law also bought Thunderbird. I have ridden that bike many times. I am considering changing my bike and either go for Avenger or Thunderbird. My feedback on Thunderbird is ( It has lot of maintenance, he visits service station every month with some or other complain) however he is mad/passionate about his bike and loves blindly! I have taken test ride of Avenger and I felt odd in rider position. (I’m 5.10″ tall) I hate bajaj for removing kick. I ran my Pulsar on low battery for 1.5 years by using kick start and running horn/indicators on low battery. About TB, bike is not quick ( note the difference between fast and quick ) also TB has too much metal everywhere! When I was Test riding Avenger I asked technician if a Eliminators Kick can be fitted to Avenger and he said YES!!! Has anyone done this? Can you share your experience?
I’m looking for low maintenance ( 2 servicing in year ) bike with maximum comfort to my shoulders. I do not wish to ride bike above 100 KM/h but I want a quick bike that can reach 0-60, 0-70 quickly. I do not care about the purchase price and fuel efficiency it will give. (I’m happy if it is giving more that 30 Km/L)
Will a Avenger be a right choice? Or should I go for TB? (NOTE:If I decide to go for TB, I will jump on 500CC TB and not 350!)
Tushar responded on 21 Mar 2012 at 3:57 am #
Today I again took the test ride of the Avenger bike. Driver comfort is definitely there but for pillion such a narrow seat looks like a joke! Has anyone modified the back seat of avenger?
Jigsaw responded on 22 Mar 2012 at 7:09 am #
@Tushar - reg mods for the avvy
the avg 180 also had a kick start. it can be fit into the avy 200 n 220.
abt the rear seat - u can opt for a custom seat with the rider seat of an avvy and the pillion seat of a tbts… and go for the foam of the avvy.
Kiran responded on 24 Mar 2012 at 12:36 am #
@Tushar
Why do you need a kick start, those kick start options are all age old bro..dont worry abt battery getting low and bike getting stuck in the road, next time when u go for a test drive try pushing the bike and starting it. It starts like breeze.(worst case scenario)
.
Is there any kick start option in bikes anywhere else in the world? don’t think so. Those are primitive technologies
Regarding Pillion seat, it just looks like pillion has a narrow seat cos the rider have a bean bag. try measuring it and you will find its the same as most of the bikes and if ur still not happy with it a good upholstery guy can fix it with some extra foam
Im not sure abt TB500 but comparing to the 350 ones you wont regret buying an avenger.(and trust me its a drool factor)

Avenger-affordable,stylish,comfortable,value for money.
thunder bird-”King of the street”-Not any more.there are harleys,st7s,triumps for that position.none of these are premium cruisers(bullets were)
my father owns bullet from his college days.he has always got upgrades .i have ridden them for a long while .my cousin owns an avenger 200 2008 and i started liking it after a while.i recently bought a 220 cherry red.i am 5.7 and i find it comfortable than the TB.Both are good bikes.i do accept TB is more rugged.but when it comes to performance, style, value for money ave wins.i had a P 150 2003 model which performs like new.it depends on how u take care of the bike.i find Bullet guys more caring about their bikes .so naturally they last longer.test ride them and decide for ur self.
