We had reported almost a fortnight ago about the plans of Bajaj, Renault and Nissan to chug out small car aimed exclusively for the Indian small car market which has emerged as a viable hunting ground for companies from across the world and have a significant pie of the same.

Following the roots of our very own entry, here we bring to your attention the news of the three auto biggies to start rolling out their small cars by the turn of 2012.

The associated members of this deal have also decided as to who would be responsible for what.

Bajaj Motors would be acting as manufacturing partners and would be responsible for design, development and manufacturing of the cars.

On the other hand, Renault and Nissan would be handling out marketing, sales and service departments of the ensuing ultra cheap cars.

The company will roll out the model from its Waluj plant near Aurangabad instead of its Chakan plant near Pune. The company is investing Rs 500 crores in this project. It is confidential for Bajaj, Nissan and Renault and so, I will not speak much about it.

Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto was quipped as saying.

To provide you a sneak peek about the whole idea, the combined project is being speculated to of value 2000 crores & Bajaj has been quite active in the process of acquiring land for the same.

So far the auto major has already acquired 250 acres and the request for 100 more of them has been summoned to the government.

Bajaj is also zeroing on possibilities of venturing out in the field of scooters too with the planning of new Pulsar model, which is set to hit the roads by next year.

Must say, the Indian small car market is set for a showdown as far as the different plethora of actions are concerned like price factor, model efficiencies, comfort zones and off course the customer satisfaction.
