Auto makers are launching new models to increase the speed of the sales

Seven new models such as one motorcycle, a scooter and five cars will soon hit the roads in the months of October and November in the season, which coincides with the festivals of Diwali, Durga Puja, Navrantra, considered favorable for big-ticket purchases. Same like in the past, a few models have been developed from scratch and go beyond simple refreshes as well as cosmetic changes. The launching of new models comes in the backdrop of increasing interest rates and petrol costs, which have greatly insisted a number of purchasers to put off buying plans.
The sales of car slewed 11 percent in India for the second successive august month to almost 144,516 unites from the previous year. “While there is a trend towards diesel-ization, the excellent cost of ownership will ensure Brio petrol finds favor among the buyers,” Sen said. Honda Company is in attempt of ramping up its dealership network to 143 in almost 91 cities by the month of March from nearly 125 dealers in nearly 77 cities. The second biggest car maker by sales of the country, Eon, a small new car from Hyundai is expected to go on sale in the month of October. An estimated price of this new Eon is between 3.5 lakh and 4.5 lakh. Hyundai has pitted the new model Eon against the India’s biggest selling car, Maruti Auto, which clocks monthly average sales of almost 25,000 to 30,000.
An analyst called Mahantesh Sabarad at Fortune Equity Brokers Ltd said that, with the new model i10 is available in several trim levels, the new model Eon as well as i10 can cannibalize into the volumes of each other. Making the entrance of a powerful competent in the segment, it becomes very tough for Maruti to continue volumes according to an analyst, Puneet Gupta. The XUV 500 developed by the Mahindra LTD in Chennai is touted to be the huge than the Scorpio in terms of scope, scale and product development costs. With the Mahindra’s new model, Mahindra now has the goal to break into the global league. A gearless scooter model named Maestro will be launched by Hera Honda.
