Auto Giants Report an Increase in Sales in September

The world’s largest producer of two wheelers, Hero MotoCorp has a reason to cheer. In September the company recorded a growth of 26.75% in sales; they sold about 549,625 units last month. This is the third consecutive month when the sales have crossed a mark of half million units.

After the company dissolved its joint venture with Honda Motor Company this year it witnessed a rise in the sales. The sales in the past quarter were about 20%, more than what it was in the quarter a year ago.

Anil Dua, the senior vice president of the marketing and sales department at Hero MotoCorp said, “We have been able to maintain strong growth since the formation of our new company and also expect the same momentum to continue in the festive season of October and November.”

The major rival of the company Bajaj Auto also saw a rise in the sales. Bajaj Auto is the second largest maker of two wheelers. Its sales increased to 18%, about 371,000 units were sold in September. It exported about 141,000 units, which is more than the sales done in September last year. Another reason for the company to cheer is the sales figure of its recently launched bike, Discover. The company was able to sell more than five million units of the bike.

The sales of the Czech car maker, Skoda Auto reported an increase in sales in the month of September.  The sales increased to about 13%. It said that it sold about 1654 units as compared to about 1467 units in September last year. The company was able to maintain a steady growth inspite of the fact that the auto industry has witnessed tog times recently. Thomas Kuehl, a member of board of the sales and marketing division of Skoda India, said that, “Besides the recent launch of the Laura RS sports variant, we have also introduced two more upgrades in the Fabia hatchback that gives our customers many options to take several value offerings and luxury features in the same compact car.”

Nissan Motor, the Japanese car maker, also announced that its sales grew by a whopping 73% last month when it sold about 2,176 units. This is a sharp contrast to 1,256 units that were sold in September last year. The increase in the sales can be contributed to recently launched hatchback Micra, Nissan X-Trail and Teana Sedan.

VE Commercial Vehicles, the maker of commercial vehicles also reported that its sales figure rose by 20% last year, as it sold about 4,627 units. This company is a joint venture between Eicher Motors and Volvo Group (a Swedish company). The sales of this company rose from 3,665 units in September last year to 4,152 units in September this year. It also reported an increase in exports.
