The Indian car market has gained that niche status because of the target customers of varying range available here and prominent possibilities for every company, being the other.
Now, once again for another reason, Indian car market is set to become a boon for foreign companies as they are vying to assemble their high-end sports utility vehicles (SUVs)
There have been reports doing the round that auto majors from various countries are aggressively planning to assemble their top-end imported SUVs in India in an order to reduce their price tag, which might help them to grab more of the market’s pie of share.
Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Tata Land-Rover, Renault and Hyundai are the major players who have studied the importance of Indian market and ready to assemble their SUVs.
At present, a top-end imported SUV attracts 110 per cent duty that makes the price above Rs 40 lakhs. If the imported vehicles (SUVs) are assembled here, they will only attract 65 per cent duty, consequently placing it at the sub-Rs 30 lakhs price band
An expert from the automobile industry was quoted as saying.
Audi recently began assembling its luxurious SUV Q5 in India.
Must say, India has become the penultimate destination for auto companies from all over to reap a rich crop of benefits.
Nevertheless, it would be tempting to note as to how the above move of them are able to be sustained in an open Indian car market.
