Since its launch in 2008, the Maruti A- Star, a sporty little hatchback has created a niche name amid its admirers.

As far as the hatchbacks are considered, the main motto of the A-star was to be looked upon as an able city slicker and judging by its sales records, it has just managed to do that and live up to its promise and how!

Its special city based customized features and ability to fit in anywhere has made it quite a star in the urban jingle.

Going one step closer to serve its customers well, the Maruti Suzuki has recently launched a new version of this old wine in an automatic mode and must say, just as it is called that the old wine gets better and kicking with time, the same can be said about A-star automatic too.

The four speed automatic gearbox is touted to be a great fit with the KB10 engine and driving pleasure is supposedly retained, however a proper road test will reveal more on this front. The car shall get a return of 17kmpl mileage.

An executive of the company on the condition of being unnamed was quoted as saying.

This new avatar of the A-star in automatic version is being believed to be more efficient and like a boon especially for cities boasting of congested roads and traffics.

Priced at INR 4.35 lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi) the A-star automatic is not the cheapest in the hatchback segment.

Nevertheless, given the fact that it offers an unmatched customer satisfaction and peace of mind while driving, it shall not face any problem as far as the sales are concerned.

It is a good car, considering the purpose of why maruti built it. I bought the car because i wanted something different. Driven mildly it delivers a healthy 15kmpl. It displays excellent road manners. Seats 4 (under 6 footers) in relative comfort for short drives and almost parks itself. It is a little dark at the back with the tapering rear windows. It is a little low on luggage space, but you could throw on a thule overhead storage box for those long drives if you really want to take it places….with grandmas luggage. I’m in the zone with it. Efficient, small and great for the city.
