A luxury car maker JLR, Jaguar Land Rover has planned to build a new engine plant in the West Midlands area of U. K. It comes to know that the engine plant will make use of many people since it has got the financial support from the government. Presently, Ford supplies engines to JLR from sites such as Dagenham and Bridgend. For putting the plant logistically, the i54 site is considered as the wonderful place. JLR presently has factories on Merseyside and in the West Midlands too. It is expected that the development will take up to 2 years but will be on the i54 business park in Wolvehampton, confirmed as the new enterprise zone in the month of July according to many reports.
Both in India as well as South Wales, JLR was earlier known as considering sites. At present, Ford supplies engines to JLR from sites like Dagenham and Bridgend. An engine plant that will be built in the UK by Tata-owned JLR will cost £400 million that can create good employment of more than 2,000 jobs according to the reports of the media. According to the report, JLR is very soon going to announce the engine plant as early as possible. The car makers want to control over engine production greatly as sales boom in the Asia. According to the report, it is even considering an engine plant in India too.
Union government of the UK has provided nearly 10 million of amount to build Jaguar Land Rover plant, even if it is not cleared what form this plant will be in. Almost 2,000 workers will be used for building this great plant according to the report. The fate of Jaguar Land Rover has undergone a huge transformation under the ownership of Tata Motors that bough Jaguar as well as Land Rover from Ford in the year 2008.
Jaguar Land Rover is planning to invest nearly £1.5 billion a year on new products under the leadership of Mr Ralf Speth, chief executive and Mr Ratan Tata, Tata chairman. JLR also has ambitions to increase the production at its 3 major midland plants to almost 500,000 vehicles in a year. Nearly 3,000 people have been hired by the company this year that include 350 graduates and now make use of nearly 21,000 people in the United Kingdom.
