53% to 47% Market Share, is it The Beginning of The End For Maruti Suzuki?
Posted on July 16th 2010Welcome back!
First things first, we had reported on how the diverse product line of Maruti has kept it at the first position for the last 2 decades with market share of more than 50%.
Now comes the plunge, much to the amazement of most of you out there, the market share of the numero uno car maker in India, Maruti Suzuki has dropped from 53% to 47% in the last few months.
A cause for worry may be?
The major reason being speculated for the same has been the entry of many players and intense competition form them, like, Ford Figo, Chevrolet Beat, VW Polo and Nissan Micra to list out few.
Seemingly Maruti has been caught on the wrong foot, napping. Let’s take the example of Maruti Swift, which is arguably the best seller but the bottom line is that it does not even offer airbags, rear wiper and defogger.
To provide you a peep to the whole idea, our economy has been reviving itself as we are becoming more of a buyer’s market than sellers’.
Customers have realized their list of priorities and are sharper than ever. The value for money issue is the thing which is looming large on their mindset which is instigating them to go for a certain product.
Thus, just being the market leader does not mean any player can remain there for long without producing fully customized products as people have stopped compromising on various options not being provided by Maruti and opt for the companies offering the same.
47% is still a large chunk of the market share owned by Maruti, but Maruti seriously needs to step up and go all out and out of the way to resurrect things.
Unless the same is done, the future prospect of Maruti being on top is looking bleak.
We, at autoindiaforum.com will keep updating our patrons on any recent turnaround the automobile scene concerning this news and all.

Tough competition!!! Maruti has done very bad job by loosing their market SHARE. Customized and Value for money is the most important thing. Thats what the chevrolet people work on.. and thats the case with BEAT’S SUPER SUCCESS…….
