You must have seen an Ambassador. Yes, they are the same cars in which most of our politicians and government officials prefer to have a ride.

There were reports about a fortnight ago of the old Ambassador car being revamped by the company, Hindustan Motors. It’s official now! Hindustan Motors has recently launched the refreshed version of Ambassador Car and renamed it Ambassador 2011 Grand Sedan BS4.

So, if one has been an old fan of Ambassador, its good news for them as they would be able to enjoy an improved version of the car.

The medieval sedan has been refreshed and it’s donning a new look. Major changes have been done in the interior and exteriors of the car.

The retouched version of the Ambassador car has some exciting features like power windows, rear AC vents, a mobile charging socket and improved leather upholstery.

However, bad news on the engine front as engine remains the same, 1817 cc petrol engine capable of generating a power of 71Bhp @480 rpm and a torque of 137 Nm@ 2250 rpm.

The fully revamped model from Hindustan Motors, the new Ambassador 2011 Grand Sedan BS4 is priced at 6.5 lakhs on-road, New Delhi. The veteran company of the Indian automobile market is offering one year warranty on the first fifty thousand models sold along with spare parts too. The classic sedan is available in various colors such as Jet Black, Lunar Silver, Fire Black Red, Oyster Blue, Ecru Beige and Crystal White offering a wide array of choice to its target audience.

Few days before, there was a report doing the rounds that Delhi Police has phased out the Ambassador cars being used for politicians and other government officials and plans were on to take Maruti Sx4 as the next option. It seems that Hindustan Motors has come up with the revamped model to reposition the old sedan in a good way. Government officials and politicians should enjoy the improved version of the car for many more years to come.

At a time when Indian automobile market is seeing a car launch almost everyday and even the launching of different variants have become the order of the day, its really gong to be very difficult for Hindustan Motors to attract customers and play out there loud.

It would be really interesting to observe and report if the veteran car maker is getting any takers for its refreshed Ambassador.
