Tata Motors will soon launch its new version Indica named the Vista. The new Indica Vista, codenamed Indica X1 will be the Tata’s 1st all new passenger car platform after the older version platform which produced full range of vehicles including Indigo, Indigo XL, Indigo Marina and Indigo CS.

New BMW Studio in Delhi

BMW launched its new Studio at a Janpath, Delhi this month. It’s the only 2nd such studio in the globe from BMW and 1st of its type in country from any car manufacturer in India. Studio may showcase different kind of lifestyle products from BMW such as golfing kits, jackets, shirts, baggage etc.

M&M to Hold 51% in New Chinese JV

Yesterday Mahindra & Mahindra, the Tractor Major announced that they are planning to pick up 51 percent stake in recently formed JV with Chinese firm Jiangsu Yueda Yancheng Tractor Making Co. Mahindra & Mahindra will invest around $26 million in JV, which will get Yueda’s tractor related assets and existing liabilities for a $50 million.

VW Beetle Coming Soon!!!

Small cars like Nano, Lite and Beetle will be creating their charisma in Indian market. Yesterday Mr. Joerge Mueller (VW India, President & MD) declared in Delhi that the unique ‘people’s car’ the “Beetle” would soon be seen on the Indian roads. The car will arrive as a CBU (completely built Unit). However another VW car, Polo car will be built from the Pune plant.

Maruti to Start 110 New Driving Schools and 10 Research Institutes

India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is planning to set up 8 to 10 new institutes of IDTR (Driving Training & Research) and 110 MDS (Maruti Driving Schools) across country by 2010, with an intend to train 5 lakh people within coming 3-years.

Chrysler Blames M&M of Copying Scorpio Design

Chrysler and M&M are entangled in a clash over a front grille design and the shape of the Scorpio. Chrysler says that Scorpio’s designing, at front, looks analogous to their Jeep and M&M has copied the design. There is rumor that Chrysler could start legal action against Mahindra and Mahindra.

Car Sales Slip in July

Car industry recorded dip in a sales for 1st time in over 2 and ½ years as the sales in domestic market dropped 1.71% in the month of July as the interest rates, hike in fuel costs dented demand. . Last time decline in the sales occurred in Nov. 2005 when the segment observed dip of 2.3 percent at 68840 units compared with 70468 units in Nov. 2004.
