Import of Used Cars

wto.jpgSociety of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has resisted a plan of the government to import used cars in India. Trading of used car in country may cause a risk to the increasing auto industry in the India, it says.

SIAM thinks that such a move may lead to import of refurbished goods from developed countries such as African states. They have raised concerns over various clauses in the WTO’s modified Non-Agricultural Market Access drafts.

In Delhi, Sheila Dikshit (Delhi Chief Minister) launched first electric car of India which has been built up after 13-years of study and development. According to CM, it is the ‘cute little car’ and was the green day for a city. This car will be the personal preference of CM and will be used for small distances.

Mercedes Benz E230 in India

In India, Luxury car segment witnesses 2-new models from Mercedes Benz. Mercedes Benz said that they introduced 2-new E-Class variants: E220 CDI and E230. The prices would be Rs 38.99 lakh and Rs 41.14 lakh respectively at ex-showroom, Mumbai. The E230 model offered with 2.5L V6 engine (petrol) with 7G-tronic transmission and E220 is 2.2L four- cylinder diesel engine.

Volvo Car Introduces ‘Road Traffic Information’ System
