Welcome back!

1.0 litre EcoBoost engine revealed at 2012 Delhi Auto Expo Ford Focus

Ford displayed the EcoSport that features the small EcoBoost engine. It has been introduced at 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. The new features added to this newly revealed engine are two namely direct injection and turbo charging. The performance of this engine has been checked and it performs wonderfully. This engine will be fixed first in Ford Focus. This car will be made available for sale in February 2012 in U.K.

There are two options, i.e., 125 PS and 100 PS option, in this 1.0 litre three-cylinder EcoBoost engine. These will be made available soon. The 125 PS option is the more potent option. This 1.0 litre three-cylinder EcoBoost engine is going to give competition to 1.6 litre petrol engines at its 175Nm of torque and 125 PS of power. This newly introduced engine is more fuel-effective.

Graham Hoare, European executive power train director based at Dunton, said: “This is the third addition to our acclaimed EcoBoost engine family. Joining the 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre EcoBoost engines, which span 150PS to 240PS, this 1.0-litre EcoBoost signals a new era of downsized, super frugal engines for the sub-130PS segment. During development our UK engineers focused on improving thermal efficiency and reducing friction of the engine’s internal moving parts, especially during warm-up.”

Ford Focus is one of the big rivals to Volkswagen Golf. Ford Focus made its entry a long time ago in UK. Both of these huge hatchbacks are giving tough competition to each other to make the leading position in the segment.

“Gone are the days when the number of cylinders dictates performance. This highly efficient, technically advanced power train is not only great fun to drive, but it delivers fuel economy improvements and ultra-low CO2 emissions which lead to real world cost savings for our customers,” said Mark Ovenden, Ford Britain, and Managing Director.
